And somehow this recruiting class is getting even better.
Today S Major Wright, ranked a 5-star by Scout.com and a 4-star by Rivals, has made his commitment known that he wants to be a Gator. He is ranked #1 and #2 at his position by both sites respectively.
Wright was at the National Championship celebration earlier this month, which could have had a big impact on his decision:
"It was fun to see how all the fans reacted and enjoyed that championship," Wright told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. "It felt pretty good to see how it will go if we win another national championship. And it's nice that my parents will be able to see me play."
With Wright's commitment the Gators perhaps find a way to ease the pain of losing Reggie Nelson to the NFL draft - with the future expectations the hard-hitting Wright filling the void. Not only does it help in that area, but it gives the Gators a ridiculous 8 Scout.com 5-star recruits on their commit list: TE Aaron Hernandez, LB Lorenzo Edwards, G James Wilson, DT Torrey Davis, DE Justin Trattou, RB Chris Rainey and DE Carlos Dunlap.
Urban Meyer and his staff are winning on the field as well as on the recruiting trail this season. This is an unprecedented recruiting class for the University of Florida and could be one of the better ones the nation has seen over the last few years.
Welcome to Gainesville, Major. We can't wait to see you make an impact at the Swamp.
