Stephanie Brombacher, Pitcher: Was 20-0 in 2008 with a 1.40 ERA helping the Gators to their best season in program history. The freshman from Pembroke Pines had 123 strikeouts and only 25 walks. Brombacher was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Nick Calathes, Guard: Led the Gators in scoring (15.3 ppg) in his rookie season, which was the highest for any freshman in the Donovan Era. Calathes led the SEC in assists, breaking the UF record for most assists in a season (221) and per game (6.1). He was named SEC Co-Freshman of The Year and second team All-SEC.
Jeffrey Demps, Running Back: Quite possibly the fastest man to wear a Gator uniform. Demps was second on the team in rushing (44.8 ypg) averaging 8.4 ypc. Demps was third on the team with 8 touchdowns and blocked two kicks. Demps was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Janoris Jenkins, Cornerback: Jenkins was a standout for Florida's 19th ranked pass defense. Jenkins had three interceptions and broke-up 11 passes. The man from Pahokee was named to the Sporting News Freshman All-America Team and the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Kelly Murphy, Right-Side/Setter: Led the Gators in kills per game (3.22) and percentage (.358). Murphy was considered the top recruit in the nation when she joined UF. She met the expectations that come with that distinction. Murphy was named the 2008 National and SEC Freshman of the Year, the first Gator to earn both honors.
