Alligator Army Notebook: March 21st

  • I'm told that there is a Gator basketball game this evening against Creighton. But it's on ESPNU at 9:30. I think that's code for, "This game doesn't really matter." On the brightside, at least the student section was into Wednesday night's game instead of throwing garbage on the floor.
  • Gator baseball (15-3, 3-0) hits the road to face Ole Miss (14-6, 2-1) this weekend. UF actually has momentum, which has been in short supply the last two seasons. If they can take 2 of 3 I'll be shocked. Ole Miss is the quality of Miami, and the Gators only took the series finale down there. Pitching will remain the spark of this team, especially since the majority of the guys are streaky hitters and Ole Miss has a stud prospect going tonight. UF cannot rely on offense yet.
  • I picked Kentucky to beat Marquette. I was wrong. That's what I get for picking against a Catholic school during Holy Week. I also picked against Villanova and San Diego. I'm already getting owned in the Alligator Army pool, so I expect the problems to continue.
