Gators In Tallahassee; Welcome To Hate Week

Stay connected for news and updates

For the first time since 2005, the Gators are in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, earning a two seed in the Tallahassee Regional. On Friday, UF (34-22) faces Tulane (37-20-1), who earned an at-large bid. The top seed in the regional is FloridaState (48-10), who gets Patriot League champ Bucknell (29-22-1).

Look at the last sentence again. That’s right. It’s FSU. It’s time to bring the hatred. If you need some inspiration…

The ACC refs game…chanting, "UF rejects!"…Charlie Crist helping his buddy’s unqualified kid into UF’s med school as it is losing state funds…my younger brother screaming at FSU students, "Your parents are ashamed of you!"

I don’t think I have to express my hatred of all things FSU to you. But now that baseball is involved, it gets pumped up a few levels. I had the opportunity to cover baseball at UF and I consider the 2005 run to the Championship Series in Omaha to be the real start of Florida’s championship run. Plus, UF swept FSU in the Super Regionals, which was especially gratifying since I had been to about 30 home games that season. Destroying the team I wanted to destroy above all others made it even better.

Over the next few days, we’ll break down FSU, Tulane and Bucknell. We’ll also take a look at Florida Softball and their bracket at the Women’s College World Series. It should be an enjoyable week for the seamheads.
