ESPN Reports Spikes Is Staying

From ESPN's Joe Schad;

Florida junior Brandon Spikes, an Associated Press All-American at linebacker, said Thursday morning that he will return to the BCS champion Gators for his senior season.

An all-Southeastern Conference selection the last two years, Spikes said he wants to ensure his draft position.

Schad writes that Tebow influenced Spikes decision. Still no word on Percy, but the Orlando Sentinel reports that Harvin is meeting with Gators coaches today.

Think about this...

We return all 11 starters from a unit that allowed 13 ppg. Then we add Omar Hunter, Dorian Munroe, Brendan Beal, and any other top recruits.

Holy crap.

UPDATE

Schad updated the article:

One prominent Florida player is going, another is staying with the BCS champion Gators.

Junior wide receiver Percy Harvin is expected to announce later Thursday that he will enter the NFL draft, a person close to him said.

yay for spikes returning

we should be considered #1 defense in nation now, with USC losing Maualuga.

I’m not that worried about Harvin leaving though, i’m pretty confident Rainey and Demps will step into their new role very nicely next season.
