Survive And Advance

In the season long college football tournament, sometimes it is all about survive and advance. Today was the day as the Florida offense decided to put the ball on the ground four times and the Florida defense was so worn down in the 4th quarter that they could not see straight. The Gators 23-20 win over Arkansas was not pretty and it may cost them the No. 1 spot, but that doesn't matter. Your boys are 6-0 and Pasadena is still an attainable goal. Arkansas gave us all we could handle and more, and they might be the most improved team in the SEC. But the Gators played like defending champions, unwilling (at least right now) to let anyone take their crown.

It's a lovely Fall evening in most of Florida, so go out tonight and toast Tim Tebow for still being willing to take over games, your defense for propping up their injured captain, Riley Cooper for continuing to hang onto his football career, and Caleb Sturgis, who shook off Chris Hetland-itis and won the game. You can start thinking about Mississippi State tomorrow.

Officials deserve free passes to Disney World

We are lucky! Ticky tack interference call, ticky tack clipping call, and a no call on an obvious offensive pass interference call should be added to the deciding plays on the Gators last drive. I don’t like winning like this as much as I don’t like losing like this. I don’t hate on no team, but I always hate on the officiating. The Razorbacks deserved this game and the Refs affected wether that would be or not. It’s really sad that the refs become a part of the game rather than managing the game. I’ll take the win, but I’m not proud of it.

You see it in every game.

Congrats Gators, but you guys were realy delivered a gift from the refs. May have still won in OT, but we’ll never know.

Things won’t be the same when the Gators face the Tide defense. There will be a special introduction to the Tide D for Timmy.

We'll see :)

For now, Gators = 6-0!

you always hate on the officiating?

and we should trust your “objective” view on how the game was officiated? as a ref, your full of it. refs do their jobs and ive never met a guy that refs for a specific team or anything like that. get over it. there will always be penalties that arent called and others that people like you think are “ticky tack”

alabama was 12-0 last year until the roadblock that is the UF defense. and then they had the greatness to embarrass the SEC against utah…. all this talk about how awesome they are this year is a crock. let them play a UT team thats getting better every week and LSU back to back and then we will see what they are made of.

good point

We just beat Bama, with the exact same defense, and almost the exact same offense, people probly forget Percy was out that game, Tebow won that game. So why do they think it wouldnt happen again.

Why dont Arkansas fans just take it like it is, they lost, stop making up excuses and this same team already beat Bama.

Haha. Okay, so since you have “never met a guy that refs for a specific team or anything life that” we should give the officials the benefit of the doubt. Great logic.

Many respectable journalists and objective analysts have called the refs’ decisions BS. I honestly don’t care at the end of the day, but at least use simple logic.

right...

all you care about is logic…
nothing else has anything to do with it

by Hook85 on Oct 19, 2009 8:02 AM EDT up reply actions

haha

You do realize we beat ourselves.
We fumbled twice inside your 20, and missed a FG, a dropped TD catch by cooper.
So if you want to play the what if game, if we didnt shoot oursleves in the foot in the first half, you would of been blown out.

I am sick of having to defend a win, I wonder if the Longhorns have to defend every win they get.

It was a tough game, but look at teams like USC, it just shows that was our USC game and we got through it.

Swindle

We will need many more “gifts” from refs to make up for the swindle. May Jack Childress referee your next game.

Fuck "improvement"

I want to win.

But overall this may help us out a little more than planned. Our team now has some recognition in florida (might help in recruiting). And if we won we might have had a hangover going into ole miss and might have lost. Should have come away from this game….but we didn’t. Now let’s channel all our anger into fucking ole miss and houston nutt up.

they played great against the run.

it was good game planning, combined with a shitload of mistakes on our part.

Miss St not Ole Miss

Educate yourself. They are not as vulnerable as they looked. Score could have just as easily been 45-20. Refs are ridiculous and AR could have won but 6-0 means there is no arguing the fact that winning means another title.

Since the Jags games is blacked out tomorrow

I’m going to rewatch the game, and break down each play, and then compile some stats. I’ll put it in the fanpost thing. If it’s as ugly as I think it is, Addazio is going to have one extremely vocal hater.

Well

He did make some good passing plays to get people wide open, either they dropped the ball, or Tebow didnt have time to get it to them. There should of been a few deep bombs, Tebow had men wide open several times but couldnt get it to them. Our O-line was ok, I credit it to Ark, with very good blitzing.

WE WON!

We made many many mistakes.
But I am still very proud of our team, this was very much a trap game for us. We still find a way to pull it off. No one will deny that Ark is a good team. In a entire season, you always have that ONE game, when the ball just doesnt seem to be bouncing your way. Literally, every fumble the ball seemed like it was jumping into the Arky players stomachs.

So i am sure many will find ways to make the Gators look “overrated”, but I think a lot of good came out of this game. Tebow learned a lot about his recievers, Meyer learned a lot about his Tebow.

That Damn Florida Defense

Not even gonna say anything about the officiating. That damn defense that you guys have keep us from really making hay yesterday. Mallet missed some opportunities but even with your stud linebacker down that’s a pretty darn good D that you guys have. Wish we could get you guys back on the hill next year when we have darn near everybody back. Good game both teams.
