Billy Gonzales Going To LSU

Just when you thought the Gators had survived Charlie Strong going to Louisville without any UF assistants, the Orlando Sentinel reports that receivers coach Billy Gonzales is going to LSU.

Gonzales' wife, Julie, said nothing is finalized because the change is happening fast, but Gonzales is in talks to become the "pass-game coordinator" while also coaching wide receivers. LSU's offensive coordinator is Gary Crowton...Gonzales told the Sentinel earlier in the week that he didn't have immediate plans to leave the Gators.

Most of the message board rumors had Gonzales to Louisville and Meyer looking outside the program for a new defensive coordinator. Now it appears that Meyer needs a new receivers coach and fix whatever offensive staff issues there may be. Educated fans know that Gonzales was a part of the three-headed monster calling plays with Steve Addazio and Urban Meyer. Perhaps there were behind the scenes workings that led to Gonzales to cut ties with a head coach he has worked with at Bowling Green and Utah.

don't be surprised to see meyer go after his ex-OC from utah.

he was recently fired from his head coaching debut at UNLV. also meyer is talking with ol’ miss’ DC tyrone nix about replacing charlie strong.

gonzales leaving right now seems to be bad timing for UF with him not only being our receivers coach but also our recruiting coordinator. i think meyer has finally realized that he needs to fix the sorry state of UF’s offense so he is going to mix things up a bit. with the lack of production of our blue chip recruits we have at receiver right now this move doesn’t surprise me. especially when meyer is making statements about how almost every receiver that comes through UF’s program at some time has wanted to transfer. after all the dropped passes in the seccg i for one think change is good. i don’t like the idea of gonzo coaching for one of our biggest rivals though. LSU also hired UT's WR coach

Frank Wilson. After taking John Chavis as the DC last year.

I guess ’ol Les needed some help.

Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

Yeah, well I am happy

since we got two top notch recruiters. (LSU fan.)

Losing good coaches is the price of success I guess. We lost Bo Pelini. I don’t know WTF a passing game coordinator is, but I have a mind to this this guy is going to replace Crowton.

Gregatron is not responsible for any of the crap he just wrote.
