Brandon James Out For Sugar Bowl

Cold Blooded's career will end on the operating table. From Jeremy Fowler;

Brandon James will not play in the Sugar Bowl after having surgery on his foot, coach Urban Meyer said Monday. The prolific kick returner injured his right foot against Alabama on Dec. 5 on what is believed to be a re-aggravated stress fracture. James also had surgery in February to repair a stress fracture on the same foot.

Meyer said running backs Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps will  handle kickoffs while possibly sliding cornerback Joe Haden to punt return.

Florida has the horses to get past this, but it is a sad end to the best returner in UF history. James has 4089 yards as a returner (first in SEC and UF history) and five return touchdowns in his career.

Brandon James

It is a crying shame that Brandon James will not get to finish the season on the field with the Gators. He is an electrifying returner and I cannot remember how many times he made us leap up from the bleachers when he began a ducking, darting, twisting return under almost impossible field circumstances. When an opposing team either punted or kicked off we always had the thought, here’s the good news, you’re kicking to Brandon James. He was fearless in the face of pressure and he always made good decisions. Damn, what a shame he won’t be in the Sugarbowl.
