Alligator Army/Orange and Blue Game Weekend Twitter/Thread

This weekend, I will be in Gainesville following the Orange and Blue Game as well as Baseball vs. Ole Miss. You can follow the proceedings right here, tracking Alligator Army on twitter. During the Orange and Blue Game, this will be the thread. While I cannot comment on stories (our blog platform does not have mobile posting), I can see and reply to your comments using my Blackberry and posting on twitter.

Star-divide

If you are thinking about going up this weekend, I wholeheartedly suggest it. The Orange and Blue Game is free for UF Alumni and this is your chance to fight off little kids for the free 2009 Gator Football Posters. If you do stop by, say hello to the kid wearing the Alligator Army tshirt. If not, make sure you follow us on twitter.

He’s average. Still bouncing around like crazy though.

Yeah

For a guy just wrapping up his second season, he’s… pretty decent, I’d say. Certainly still behind Horford in terms of development, but Big Al was more NBA-ready when they were drafted, and has a more conventional skillset. There’s no real reason to think he’ll be a star, but there’s every prospect he’ll have a solid, productive career as a quality starter (though one that requires the right situation to thrive – either a really big man to play off of, or a team committed to the transition game like Chicago. With Noah and Thomas the starters up front, running is something of a necessity for the Bulls – virtue out of necessity, and so forth.)

He was a polarising player in college, and that certainly hasn’t changed – he was going to draw criticism from some quarters no matter what or how he did (even a nightly 30-15 for a seventy-win NBA champ wouldn’t have done the trick, I fear… if you’re determined to criticise an athlete, there’s always something. Just look at the things that get said about Tebow, or the absolute assassination Harvin has suffered the past month – and poor Percy has nothing like the profile of Noah or Tebow.)
