UF Sideline Reporter Steve Babik Charged With Child Porn Distribution

Goodnight Steve Babik. You're going to Federal Prison, asshole.

Steven Michael Babik, network coordinator for University of Florida athletics and host of the TailGator Pre-game Show, Florida has been charged in federal court with receipt and distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Babik, 50, of Gainesville, has been fired from his UF job. He made his first court appearance at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Gainesville.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida, he "knowingly received, distributed and possessed materials depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct" on numerous dates from Nov. 2 to Nov. 30.

If convicted on the distribution charge, Babik faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, lifelong probation and a $250,000 fine. The possession charge carries a maximum sentence, upon conviction, of 10 years in prison, lifelong probation and a $250,000 fine.

Babik was the (formerly) harmless guy who was UF sports' Baghdad Bob, spinning Florida into greatness. He worked football sidelines, basketball and baseball. He also worked on the coaches' shows. We're making the assumption that Babik is going to prison because the Feds do not press charges unless they can convict. Babik's life and two decades at Florida have blown up in his face because he's a perv. As someone who had to work with the guy, I'm totally creeped out and floored.

wow

I am floored by this. I read he was not on the sidelines at the Sugar Bowl. So, I just thought they were parting ways or he had a new gig. But, this is horrible.

I hate reading news like this
