PrintThe movie Secretariat comes out this weekend, which gives us an excuse to show the greatest individual performance in sports; Secretariat's 1973 Belmont Stakes.
Secretariat set records in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont. His time in the Belmont, 2:24 over a mile and a half, is still a record for the distance. The time would equal 37.5 mph for the entire run.

Greatest individual performance in sports... by a horse?
Good horse, but… still just a horse. There’s better to be had for that title.
