What should we do?
I have heard a lot of talk recently about how changes need to be made. The coaches need to be replaced. The team lacks an emotional leader, and the coaches dont know what they are doing. So who should we replace?
And who do we replace them with?
Urban Meyer- Head coach
Teryl Austin- Defensive Coordinator/Cornerbacks
Steve Addazio- Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line
Zach Azzanni- Wide Receivers
Stan Drayton- Running Backs
D.J Durkin- Linebackers/Special Teams
Chuck Heater- Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties
Scot Loeffler- Quarterbacks
Dan McCarney- Assistant Head Coach, Defense/Defensive Line
Brian White- Tight Ends/Fullbacks
Please be kind and use good grammar.

Should we admit that we were wrong?
should we admit that we made mistakes?
Should we stop running the dive?
What should we do?
Should we just sell shoes?
What should we do?
Should we tell you “We are not a championship contender”?
Should we accept our role as… a basketball team?
What should we do?

What should we do?
Perhaps:

?

Urban should just take it to the coin. Heads they keep their job. Tails they look for another one.
In all seriousness, Addazio, Durkin and McCarney had the weakest links.

I take it that the coin will look something like so?

The Future
From a FSU perspective I truly empathize.
We did not play the kind of Gator team I have come to expect over the past few years.
I can’t help but get the feeling that something is seriously wrong with coach Meyer. I also don’t believe that the UF AD is so jaded to make any drastic changes after a single off year even if a percentage of your fan base (unreasonably) demands it.
This, in addition to the inevitable flight of many senior leaders leads me to believe that next year may yield similar results for the Gators.
Personally, I long for the days when this game had major National implications. It looks like the Seminoles are turning things around – I hope the Gators can do the same.
As a graduate student in his final year at FSU I took great pleasure in beating UF this past weekend (It was my first win against UF as a student) BUT I take no pleasure is seeing a once proud Gator program slipping into mediocrity.
Great game and good luck bringing in the coaching talent that your school deserves.

What? The Gators had an off year. Nothing is drastically wrong with the program. If they turn around they will be going backwards.

Really?
This team will improve in '10... on its 16-16 conference record over the last 4 years.... after losing 20 games in the last 4 years... after having the 7th worst major-conference defense... after not even winning its own division in the ACC in the last 4.

Nothing is wrong with the program as a whole. The ship as of now is veering a little off-course, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed by this time next year. Just a few tweaks (new DL coach needed, new OC hopefully)…and the ship will be back on course.
Driskel will hopefully cure that need, and if him and Reed can prove to handle the QB spot, the offense will be fine.
The defense is the issue. They are about to get young, but that “young” has a decent amount of experience. So it isn’t like they are going to be seeing anything they haven’t seen by-and-large before. I hope that Austin will have his boys ready.

Long-term, Agreed
Next year, no way. Driskel starts and UF is 8-4 or worse again.
Secondary is a big issue. Cannot believe Shaw isn’t btter.

Hmmm...
Not a huge fan of any of those guys now…

Off Year
If your fans don’t think something is wrong with the program then why are you commenting on a thread titled “what should we do”
I’m sure many Seminoles would be happy to see no coaching changes on UFs part…
Not even really reloading...
But more organization, focus, and committment! We should’ve chose just one QB and gone with him, rain or shine, til we were driven into the ground. Then if it didn’t work, put in the next guy at starter. I like Burton and our 3rd and short guy but if we kept in Johnny in for serious time we would’ve learned sooner he wasn’t the fit.
Don't get too down Gator fans
A lot FSU fans seem to think one season of finally falling off that beautiful mountain we were on top for sooo long means we will meddle at the bottom for the next 10 years. You cant blame them, they are only speaking from their own experience. Also they arnt even ranked in the top 10 and fell in and out of the top 25 all year so its not like they are on some complete turn around for a fact, I dont see them winning any BCS titles soon. Any way, my point is Ron Zook didnt send us into a 10 year hibernation and neither will SA or Brantley.
Brantley, worst case scenario starts next year and SA is still the OC. So wed probably see another crappy season. Brantley cant be here forever, lol…And if we have another horrible season next year, Meyer would have no choice but to fire Addazio. So the Gators with only 2 down seasons would still be a dream job for any up and coming OC out there. And we still have one of the best, if not the best recruiters in college Urban Meyer. And do you think college kids will forget the greatness Meyer and the Gators had just a mere 3 years earlier? HELL NO! Alabama went 7-6 and lost to some shitty D2 school and then went on to have two undefeated seasons.
Hopefully Brantley doesnt start next year, and hopefully SA isnt the OC either…But if they are, well it will be their last. Guaranteed!

Here's What I Think...
First of all, the Gator Nation needs to get over Tim Tebow. He gave us some great years and awesome play, but Tim is gone now. The problem with the coaching staff is, they are not over Tebow. They are trying to make Brantley another Tebow ans he ain’t him. Urban adjusted the offense to fit Chris Leak with a little Tebow thrown in. He won a NC that way. Why not adjust the offense this year the same way? Who knows why Urban didn’t. Jordan Reed can run the spread offense but John has to have a “pro set” offense. Second, Steve Addazio needs to be reassigned to offensive line coach because they stunk this year. Third, get a offensive coordinator that is familiar on how to run a spread offense, heck, offer the job to the OC of Boise State (whoever that may be). he may jump on it because he will have a better chance to win a NC at Florida than where he’s at now. Forth, have Austin needs to step it up on defense, be more aggressive. Then, lastly, the coaches need to get tougher. When they screw up with stupid penalties, don’t pat them on the head – kick them in the butt. It will take work but if Urban is serious about doing it right, the OC is the first issue…….
Gee golly...
Nobody has ever mentioned that we need a new OC, that’s crazy talk! lol
