Bloomin' Onions for everyone! Gators are going to the Outback Bowl
In a bit of a stunner, the Florida Gators will play Penn State in the Outback Bowl. Originally, it was rumored that Florida and Penn State would fall to the Gator Bowl, but the Outback Bowl scooped up UF as they have an earlier pick of the SEC and Big Ten bowl eligible teams. UF is 2-0 all-time against Penn State.
The Gator Bowl is rumored to have picked Michigan and Mississippi State.
Florida is 1-2 in the New Year's Day game, losing to Michigan and splitting with Iowa. Also, it puts UF firmly in their Tampa Bay fan base, so I will see you bastards in orange and blue on New Year's Eve in South Tampa and at the game.

most important?
late game makes for most practices

...to DFA TLR

The bowl payout is $3.3 million. Only the Sugar and Capital One Bowl have larger payouts.

Florida is actually 2-0 against Penn State, but we'll look to change that.

I am an idiot. The ’62 game was notorious because UF wore Confederate flags on their helmets.

Well I did not know that.
Who does that? Anyway, good luck…I’m sure you’ll be seeing plenty of PSU visitors on your site and in your state, hopefully they all act civil, but please don’t judge us on some of the idiots I’m sure you’ll encounter.

Should be fun.
You have a QB in distress, and we pulled one from the ‘expired date’ rack that proceed to go all Joe-Willie on folk.

The one game I watched this year is when the 3rd string QB came in and threw like a 70 yard bomb for a TD, I was a little jealous. I guess he is your starter now?

Matthew McGloin will be your starter, Sir.
Initially considered the 4th option, he’s a RS soph walk-on. Equally capable of tossing: A) 2 quick TDs or, B) 2 quick McSixes.
Dude, though, has some serious moxie. Whatever that actually is.

Does anyone know how we measure up?
How do we look in this game? I haven’t seen much of PSU this year…

Similarly I haven't seen much of Florida, but I can give you a couple quick PSU notes
Alabama ran all over us, much like some of the Big Ten opponents we faced. If FLA can get a run game going early and often, it could be trouble.
The offensive line has been a roller coaster this year. They’ve had some great halves of football, but have also looked completely lost.
Evan Royster came back for his senior year, but is no longer the best back on the team. That honor belongs to freshman Silas Redd, who you’ll see often. However, each can be contained if you can pressure the oline, whose run blocking is poor at best.
Depending on who you talk to, the QB situation is a crapshoot. I happen to be a fan of former walk on Matt McGloin, but some will tell you otherwise. Either way, both the QBs you could see are young and have their downsides (MM tends to telegraph plays and doesn’t have the strongest arm, Rob Bolden seems hesitant, loves a checkdown, and doesn’t have the “moxie” factor that McGloin does).

Thanks for the synopsis
To sum up the Gators, our offense consists of about 3 plays – the dive play, the screen pass to a flat footed receiver, and the dive play. If you can defened those plays, you’re pretty much golden for shutting down the Adazzio offense and we’ll have to depend on defense and special teams to score. Our offensive line is not good, and often our center will just snap it over the QB’s head or roll it back to him, before missing his assigned block. This somehow garnered him 2nd team All-SEC honors. Also, the Gators will tell you if we’re running or passing based on which QB is in the game. If the white guy is in, it’s a pass or sack play. if one of the other 2 QBs are in, it will be a run play. Our running game is much better than our passing game. We still have a couple sprinters who can break long ones which help cover up the terrible play calling at times.
Our defense isn’t bad, but is often on the field too long and can be susceptible to the big play, especially if our all-world 5-star safety is on the field. He’s the guy with dreads coming out of his helmet who is typically in the wrong position to make plays. One of our CBs is outstanding and will be in the NFL next season. so don’t throw to his side. The other side is suddenly manned by another player with dreads who was roasted by FSU more often than marshmellow’s at a girl scout retreat. We are stil puzzled why he is playing over the last guy who was only burned a couple times per game.
Our punter is outstanding, and perhaps is the best in the nation. Unfortunately, our kicker broke his back early in the season so our punter has to handle kicking duties too. He is not terrible, but isn’t a great kicker either.
Also, and with perfect timing, Mike at Black Shoe Diaries does a "By the Numbers" post
Which just happened to come out today. So you can see EXACTLY how you stack up, on paper at least.

Oh Noes!
Not fair having a ‘Win one for the Urban’ motivational tool.
Our team in a nutshell:
1) We’re from the Big 11 12 10, so you know we’re slooow.
2) You have heard our coach is old, right?
