Goodnight Gary Brown; Gators Kick Out Troublesome Defensive Tackle
The swift hammer of justice opens up a scholarship. From the St. Pete Times;
Florida has dismissed redshirt freshman DT Gary Brown from the team, following his arrest early Sunday morning on two misdemeanor counts of battery stemming from an incident at an off-campus party...
On Monday, Florida athletic officials said he had been suspended from all team activities, but as of today he is no longer a part of the team.
"Gary Brown has had a history during his time here of not meeting a set of expectations we have for the student athletes in our football program and therefore he is no longer part of our program,'' said Steve McClain, UF associate athletic director of communications.
The quote from the UF spokesman has the sound of a bus running over a body, doesn't it? Of course, Florida's 2010 recruiting class created a nice set of defensive linemen waiting for someone to screw up. I think if UF did not have Dominique Easley, Sharrif Floyd, Leon Orr, Ronald Powell and Lynden Trail, Brown might have been given a chance to rehabilitate.

I am pleasantly surprised
We needed to send a message to the team that this crap will not be tolerated. Maybe kicking a 5-star recruit to the curb will open some eyes. I really hop it does.
So since he doesn't have a scholarship anymore
can we recruit someone?

No
Florida was at 87 scholarships, two over the limit. UF now has to shed someone else by the season’s start to get back to the 85 that the NCAA allows.
