Alex Tyus dips his toe in the NBA Draft pool
From the Gainesville Sun;
Under new NCAA rules, Tyus has until May 8 to decide whether to keep his name in the NBA draft or return for his senior season. Tyus filed paperwork to the NBA draft advisory committee this week.
"Mainly, I just want to see where I stand," Tyus told The Sun on Wednesday. "I want to go through the process, getting a chance to meet some teams, working out against other players, trying to get better."
Alex Tyus changed his game in 2009-10, facing the basket more at power forward as Vernon Macklin was asked to play low. You might remember that Tyus considered transferring at the end of last season, he was so unhappy at center. Tyus will not hire an agent and says later in the Sun article that he would only leave if he was projected in the first round.

Tim Tebow did the same thing at the end of his junior year; apply to the league to see what their interest is in the player. Did you call Tebow stupid too?

Im not sure exactly…but ill have to say no, cuz Tim had a good reason to do so at the end of his junior year he just won a championship and had his second best year statistically. Tyus doesnt have the skill, attitude, or size to play in the NBA he’d get killed.

Have to agree with gatorempire here
I lol’d when I read Tyus said he’d only leave if he was a first rounder… fat chance of that happening.
Gator Bait: The first, and still the best.
Well
Tyus is coming back. There’s too much talent and prospective talent out there to merit any NBA team picking Tyus in the 1st round.
He has not done enough to prove himself worthy of that kind of a selection.
I applaud him if he’s doing it to get more opinions about what he needs to do to improve his game and his draft stock. That’s the only “logical” excuse I can give for it.
Boom-shocka-locka!!!
Tyus
Is about a 6th rounder…..too bad there are only 2 rounds.
Sucks for Kentucky to have 5 underclassman doing the same, because some of them ARE first rounders.
i watched a vid on ESPN
and some “expert” guy said every single one of those kentucky players was a first rounder….. i was like bro put down the bong. There shuld be no way Daniel Orton should go in the first round, and Beldsoe should be the last pick of the first round, or first of the second. Hes a good player but hes too small and doesnt have enough experience. There are small PGs yes, but those guys stayed in college more than one year, and were THE guy of their team, Bledsoe was far from The Guy and thats gonna kill him in the NBA.

Good decision on his part.
There is nothing wrong with this. Lots of guys do it, you see where you’re at, scouts tell you what to work on, and you get some experience with some of the better players in the country. To not do it would be stupid.
