BEST SPORTS SCHOOL

I planned to post something about this – but I read that with the outdoor track teams’ 2nd and 3rd finish in the NCAAs, that 13 of UF’s teams have already finished in the top 10 nationally. That doesn’t even include baseball, which will be the 14th. That doesn’t leave too many teams that DIDN’T finish in the top 10. Lacrosse was one of them, and they were playing with 24 freshmen and received votes in the final poll – meaning that in 2 years, they will probably be top 5.

Jeremy Foley deserves a raise, a pat on the back, a statue and anything else he should ever want. He has truly built an empire which extends to nearly every sport we participate in.

It’s great to be a Florida Gator. Is this the year we finally catch Stanford and win the Director’s Cup?!!?!?!

2005 Rose Bowl, 2005 NCAA Tournament, 2005 CWS Winners

Don’t know if they are the first, but I think they are most recent. Also, LSU won the 2003 BCS title (playing in the 2004 Sugar Bowl), made the 2003 NCAA Tournament and 2003 CWS. I’d have to do more research to see other examples. I think it would be more common than you think, especially with USC and FSU.

10-20 years ago we may have been satisfied with that, but winning football and basketabll titles in one year spoiled me!

Then the great recession came along…..

Here’s to 2010 being the beginning of the next wave of championships. Go Baseball Gators!!
