USF has a t-shirt for the Florida game and it is awful

This is actually kinda old, but Miss Lindsey brought it it my attention today; USF designed a t-shirt for the USF-Florida game on September 11. The problem is that most preschoolers could have designed a better t-shirt. They wouldn't have used crayons and Benny The Bull.

You've got to click on the link to the story because the losing slogans make "Stomp The Chomp, Drain The Swamp" seem like Shakespeare. Among the entries that fell short; "Think U are Unbeatabull", "We came. We saw. We poached. U are done.", and "Bulls Tackle Gator". Also, what is with "U"? Who do they think they are, Miami?

that’s truly awful. I have actually had some USF fans ask me if I was nervous about that game? Am I missing something? Is there any reason on the planet to think USF will beat Florida in the Swamp?

USF did have between 10-20k show up in Tallahassee for the FSU game (I was there). But FSU’s stadium also too large for the school and there is always a sizeable amount of tickets available on gameday from the school. That won’t happen in Gainesville. Especially because we’re huge assholes and won’t sell to USF fans.

Tee shirt

When Steve Spurrier was asked if the Gators respected UCF he responded “well, we’re gonna give’em all the respect they deserve”. The forecast is ugly with a potential for cruel. Urban Meyer leaves a lot to be desired as a hospitable host.

I would like to attempt to defend this.Well, not really.

The designs are sketches that students turned in. Obviously not everyone can afford Adobe Illustrator, so they mostly sent in actual paper drawings. The winning design is being redone professionally (with software and stuff, I assume) before the shirts are printed, so the gameday shirt won’t look anything like this in the end.

Still, I think the moral of the story is, have the pros redraw the pictures, THEN put them up for a vote. Having some of these floating around just makes us look stupid.

See you in September. I don’t like our chances but I’ll be there anyway.
