finally

Tebow is signed

Beware Newyorkers, Jason Heyward has arrived, he will rob A-rod of 100 homeruns, and will bring at least 5 world series trophies to the great city of Atlanta

Great news. Only missed three workouts.

Not bad at all. Good for him.

Good news, keeping on the right track so far!

I’m feeling excited to see him play, I bet he will start the first series out of the wild horses formation even if it’s just a gimmick. I think it would make the stadium go nuts if #15 runs onto the field the very first play. And then he throws an 80 yard td pass on the fake run to himself that we’ve seen a million times. Lol It’s a optimistic fantasy.

So long as

They don’t have him run the jump pass. That was just plain silly.

by skigator93 on Jul 30, 2010 10:59 AM EDT reply actions

it won us the BCS championship remember? nothin too silly about that in my opinion

The Broncos don’t really have pass catching tight ends. Unless you run the David Nelson jump pass.

It didn’t really win us the game.

it put the game out of reach for oklahoma. it was 17-14 florida with 5 minutes left when we scored the jump pass touchdown and we went ahead 24-14 and put us ahead two possessions. it won us the game.

by gatorempire127 on Jul 30, 2010 10:15 PM EDT up reply actions

It put the game out of reach. Yes. No doubt about it.

But it didn’t win the game. The Jonathan Phillips 27 yard FG did. As it put UF up 17-14.

The jump pass is ridiculous

The play action pass to the TE flat footed would have yielded the exact same result. The jumping aspect is unncessary and only made an easy pass more difficult to catch.

by skigator93 on Jul 31, 2010 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions

how would it make it more difficult to catch?

a pass is a pass jumping or not the receivers job is to catch it and thats one of the easiest jobs in football. i think if anything you mean it makes it more difficult to throw and even then its a stretch. nothing about throwing a football is difficult on and ground or in the air its all the same motion.
The point of the jump pass was to get tim at the line of scrimmage as more of a drawn out play action. unlike that jab step play action which you could see coming from a mile away the jump pass made him run at the line like a run then at the last second jump so he could see over the bohemoths up front so he could see the receivers and not just throw it up for grabs.

by gatorempire127 on Jul 31, 2010 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions

watch the replay

Every jump pass we did (3 of them I think?) were almost incomplete. The TE way leaning the wrong way or had to wait for it to come down and stay in bounds.

Also, if you think Tebow jumped up in the air high enough to clear the linemens heads, locate his recevier, make sure he was open and then throw it, then you’re nuts. He ain’t Jordan.

Everyone assumed the Gators were ramming Tebow in from the 1 yard line like we always do. The jab play action would have worked just fine. You only need to freeze the LBs for a half second and the TE is wide open.

I was thinking more of the LSU version

Nelson was covered well on the play against OU. I looks like Cooper would have been the better option on that play.

by skigator93 on Jul 31, 2010 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions

we did 2 ad both were completed for touchdowns

he didnt need to be jordan ski hes 6 foot 3 come on now lets think rationally here the tallest lineman he saw in college was probly 6 foot 6 he didnt have to have a 38 inch vertical to see over the linemen come on now ive dunked on 6 foot 6 kids it dont take that much effort to get over them and im barely 6 foot 2. i think your also forgetting he pump faked on the one against LSU he was in the air awhile look at the video again.
No matter what your argument is the jump pass was arguably the most effective play florida ran during Tims reign the completeion percentage was 100% and for 2 touchdowns how much better can you get? not very much for damn sure. if you can somehow muster an argument on how the jab step fake was a more effective play than the jump pass im all ears you cant beat those numbers

by gatorempire127 on Jul 31, 2010 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Jordan no...but he has ups

Tebow did post a 38" vertical leap at the combine. The jump pass may be unnecessary, but hard to argue with the results.

thank you for the update.

I kinda hope Tebow starts Week 1

It’ll either vindicate people who refer to themselves as BroncoGators or put less heat on the Jaguars for passing on him 10th.

I just hope he isn’t listed as the 3rd string. Because then…that severely limits his opportunities to play. Per NFL rules of course.

If the 3rd string QB comes in…than the 1st and 2nd string can’t return until the 4th Quarter.

The Once and Future King

by FlaGators on Jul 31, 2010 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Really?

I never knew of such a rule.

by skigator93 on Jul 31, 2010 5:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah. It’s a little known rule. Only been enforced a couple of times…

Here is the official rule……

“If the third quarterback initially enters the game during the first three periods, the club’s other two quarterbacks become ineligible to participate and may not return at any time under any circumstances”

http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/26/vick-and-the-third-quarterback-rule/

And at the end of the article…there are some other stipulations regarding this rule.

It is pretty interesting. Some sites state that they can’t return until the 4th Quarter….and some say they can’t return at all.

So I guess if Tebow is 3rd string QB. He won’t be getting into any game until the 4th Quarter.

Yeah. I don’t remember that one…the only one I’ve seen it happen was with the Steelers when they had Stewart and Maddox. I think the third QB was Batch. And as your Jags game was…..it was a big cluster.

Tebow 2010 Offensive ROY!!!

i know thats a bold prediction, but back-to-back Gator ROY would be sweet

Please, dont get your hopes up

Rookie QBs alwayss have a tough time. They almost never win the ROY. Tebow is good, but he wont be the ROY.
