James Wilder Jr. picks FSU, not Florida or Georgia

Urban Meyer and Mark Richt did not get their man as Plant RB/LB James Wilder Jr. picked FSU today. Wilder's pick follows a crazy recruiting season that had him going to Florida or Georgia, before settling on FSU. (Note the first comment here. Commentator FlaGators is so inside, you can't see him.)

Of course, our comments yesterday (see below) still stand; Plant is as rich and annoying as UGA. As for FSU, I'll see you in November when I'm in your student section because you can't sell out your erector set.

I would like to correct you here. But every time I’ve engaged in a conversation about journalism with you, it turns into a shouting match.

You know where I stand on the state of sports journalism today, so it’s pointless to keep arguing with me. I won’t change my position just to please you or anybody else. I’m entitled to my own opinion, agree or disagree. Fair enough?

But what I’m sure that all of us can agree on, is that nothing is final in the world of recruiting until their signature is on that piece of paper.

(And sometimes not even then…but we won’t get into that right now)

You’re right. A verbal commitment is non-binding; it’s not official until that signature on the LOI gets faxed in.

Exactly. While I’d be perfectly okay with Blakely or whatever running back Urban and Company decide to sign…It would be very funny if Wilder turned into Matt Elam 2.0

Eddie Gran is a scumbag.......

….and nobody can tell me he wasn’t involved with the goings-on of Bryce Brown and Nu’Keese Richardson. his hands are still dirty from the Reggie Bush episode, and don’t be surprised if the NCAA comes after him.

Yup. But he is one hell of a coach who gets the job done though. He almost always gets his guy.

Eddie Gran a scum bag?

O-town Gator your ignorance and stupidity are an insult to all Alligator Army readers. Gran is one of the most respected recruiters in the country and is a solid guy. It is well known that he bolted from Tennessee because he saw the writing on the wall with Lane Kiffin and hated it there. His resume of backs he has sent to the NFL include Deuce McAllister and John Avery at Ole Miss; Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Kenny Irons, Heath Evans, Brandon Jacobs, Ben Tate and Rudi Johnson at Auburn; and Montario Hardesty last season at Tennessee. Quit talking out of your ass because it makes everyone else here look stupid.

By the way congrats to the rest of you on snagging Waisome last night.

The kid needs to add some weight, but he is a great db pick up.

Nole......

….Your immaturity is very evident by the fact that you need to resort to throwing insults at somebody just because you disagree with somebody’s point of view.

Don’t try and blow smokescreens. It’ll all come out in the wash about Gran as to what he was involved in at Tennessee and USC. Don’t kid yourself.

And GROW UP. You’re making yourself look stupid by acting childish.

This. 1newplayer lost credibility with his personal insults. It IS possible to have a good conversation without such insults. You insult the FSU even more by your actions on this blog. Thank you come again.

Pot calling kettle black O-town

You started it off by making a stupid comment “Eddie Gran is a scumbag”. Seems as though you aren’t just stupid and ignorant, but also are a hypocrite. Don’t cry about insults when you start throwing them first. I’m done talking about this anyways, because I’ve also now decided you are boring.

I like him a lot

His film looks really good, and he sounds like he has a really good head on his shoulders…I can see this kid being the next really great DB at Florida

by Cardsfan25 on Aug 18, 2010 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Totally agree. I hope he sticks with us for the remainder of the recruiting season and doesn’t listen to the garbage spewed out there by other programs.

Like you said…He has all the skills (on film) and a good head on his shoulders to be able to make it at UF. I’m excited for the kid.

Apparently his only weakness is adjusting somewhat to angles. But Urban and Company will fix that no problem.

The Once and Future King

by FlaGators on Aug 18, 2010 10:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I think my

only concern about him, is how much he loves competition. I know that sounds weird, but the kid wants the best everytime out, and loves to compare himself against the best players in the country. My concern is that his approach could lead to some early mistakes, due to over playing a route, or trying to prove how good he is. That being said, once Heater works with him, I think he’ll be an amazing shut down corner.

by Cardsfan25 on Aug 18, 2010 10:26 PM EDT up reply actions

That makes sense. Trying to hard. I get it. I can see it happening. Throw all of that stuff in there with being a freshman and your bound to make mistakes. But Heater and other players will work with him and he won’t do that kind of stuff anymore.

I like the fact that he has only been playing football for three years. That says a lot as well.
