The Florida Gators basketball team has some pretty talented players. McDonald's All American, plenty. Five star recruits, plenty. NBA drafts prospects, plenty. Since the last 2007 NCAA championship...SEC Champions, none. SEC Tourney Champions, none. NCAA Tourney bids, 1. NCAA Tourney wins, NONE!
Who: Billy Donovan's recruiting classes are always ranked in the top 25.
What: Those recruits are not playing up to their hype.
When: Since 2007.
Where: Home, Away, You never know with this team.
Why: Billy Donovan? I doubt it!
So what is the problem? Is it just us Florida fans being spoiled again like we are in Football? We are 14-4 and 3-1 in the SEC. That gives us 1st place for now. But if you have been watching this team over the last two years its hard to imagine they will end the season with 1st place in the SEC. Although, I still really enjoy watching this years team, because at times you can catch glimpses of a great team here and there.
One of the common issues discussed here seems to be the talented players that don't fit their roles well. Big guys trying to finesse, while little guys playing too big, or lack of mental toughness (free throws). So which line up would best suit the Gators?
