Fun fact for you

Florida has always had a great tendency to attract football families. Mike Nattiel was a hell of a great player for us and was also the younger cousin of Ricky “the Rocket” Nattiel. Older Georgia fans still remember with grimaces of pain his 96 yard TD scamper on a ball from Kerwin Bell back in 84. Which, coincidentally, happens to be my first memory of football at all (despite me being too young to realistically remember it when it actually happened) and probably sealed my fate to become a Gator right then and there.

Cool Story Bro time:

I went to middle school with Mike Nattiel out in Newberry for 7th and 8th grade. The first time I saw him was in PE. I thought he was an intern or teacher’s aide, because he looked nothing like a middle school (or high school for that matter) student. Dude was thick, like he’d been lifting weights since he could walk and he flat out dominated in everything we played that year. Mike’s team always won, regardless of the sport. He was a very chill guy despite the attention he attracted as Ricky’s nephew and as the best athlete in the entire school. Pretty much the polar opposite of Doug Johnson, who was a cocky SOB according to my friends who played both with and against him in high school.
