Will Muschamp's sideline meltdown at the Florida-Auburn refs, in case you somehow hadn't seen it. I think we'll have more on this for Monday.

Only good thing I have seen out of this coaching staff all season.

Only good thing from last nights game.

2011 Gators Defense: "We be overrated, yo"

It’s bad because the refs don’t like it and as a result, don’t like you. But from a fans perspective, it is fantastic.

Agreed. The refs blew last night reguardless of that run-in tho but atleast we all knew they were going to blow going into the game.

I don't have a problem with blowing up at the refs when they deserve it

but he needs to rein it in at some point. You’re the head coach, your team is going to need you making decisions, not screaming at the refs for minutes on end.

Oh, come on. Don't leave your uncle T-bag hangin'.

Man.

I’m surprised he didn’t throw a punch… and I’m not sure he would have been wrong had he done so. Typical Auburn officiating: the best officiating Bobby Lowder’s money can buy.

I will put an asterisk next to an Alabama Crimson Tide "fake national title" the second one is given. That day has not and will never come. But to be fair, I'll give you 1941 if you give me 1945 and the Missing Ring of 1966.

That was a garbage call.

UF has been getting jammed nearly as bad as FSU by the refs all season.

Very true. We haven’t had much go right in terms of officiating, and I’ve read a lot of the comments at TN as well, and it appears to be much of the same type of stuff.

Hopefully, it turns around in the second half. But at this point, because we are out of it, I’d be okay if we continued to get the short end of the stick this year, if it guaranteed us the long end for the entirety of next season.

I'm not one to hold back on the refs normally

but this team has about 8 trillion problems bigger than the officiating.

Sure, it’s possible that the “muff” cost us a win in such a low scoring game, but when we’re playing this poorly, does it matter who wins and loses? I honestly think we’re that ugly right now.

PLEASE TO BE HEALTHY, JOHN BRANTLEY. PLZ. KTHXBAI.

Yes its been terrine,

3 penalties that extended 3 drives that led to 21 points against Clemson, by the way this just about sums it up lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqANJsY8gZI

also, FSU found 7 bad calls that was sent to the ACC for the Clemson game, of course they denied them lol

Haha, that video is so terrible, it is just funny. Reminds me of that video of the Duke player picking up his pivot foot roughly 8 times on the same play and not getting called for traveling.

As for the Clemson game calls, that really isn’t all that surprising. Once they are sent, at best, you’ll get something back like “We’re sorry we missed it.” … etc., but yeah, it also isn’t surprising given our experiences with ACC officials, that they were denied either.

i can't believe they had the mike on him lol

i kept waiting for them to cut it… Anyways can someone explain the rule to me because since he fumbled it and was recovered by AU and they ran it for a touchdown, but it was spotted at wherever they picked it up. But the same thing happened in LSU vs Oregon game, where the Oregon guy muffed it and they returned it for a touchdown. Does it have to do with the fair catch signal? i just wasn’t sure. By the way, I think he has a creepy stare, a lot worse than Jon Gruden. he gets that deer in a head light look to him when he gets pissed lol

by FSU@UNF on Oct 16, 2011 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

You can’t return a muffed punt if a fair catch was called in college. If no fair catch is called, and he fumbles it, you can return it. But a fair catch results in a dead ball no matter who gets it.

Nope

A muffed punt, regardless of whether a fair catch is called, cannot be advanced. In the LSU game the Oregon returner established possession, then fumbled the football, which was recovered and returned for a touchdown. More times than not play-by-play broadcasters get confused on this call.

by Dauntless12 on Oct 18, 2011 12:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Good call there, Spearchucker...

Any scrimmage kick beyond the nuetral zone is a dead ball upon recovery by the kicking team and can’t be advanced unless the receiving team was in actual possession of the ball and it is fumbled during the ensuing attempted return…which, of course, means there was no fair catch signal…

The ball is also dead if muffed and the fair catch wasn’t properly signaled…

You may not like what I have to say...but somebody has to say it...

If the guy muffs a fair catch it can’t be advanced.

This call was normal for an Auburn/Florida game. They can’t beat us without a little help. This is 3 games in a row they’ve beaten us by some kind of nonsense like this. I’m surprised the SEC hasn’t commented on this call. Oh wait, no, I’m not. They just want Alabama/LSU and then the winner of that to go undefeated and win the championship. They don’t care about squat other than that.

With Lattimore injured, we can hope USC drops another one and UGA still has Auburn in a few weeks. We’re not completely out, but we need to improve in a lot of areas. We don’t have anyone who can block. Burton, Reed, our WRs… none of them. Even Gillislee whiffed on an easy block. I don’t know what was up with us fielding punts all night. That was bizarre. But our special teams need a lot of work. Think UM would come back to coach special teams? What I want to know is why in the world we went FG safe on the last FG? We HAD TO HAVE THE BLOCK to win. That basically conceded the game.

Our defense played pretty well. A few arm tackles still, but that seems to be improving. We need to get penalties in order on both sides of the ball still, but we seemed a little better. We’re still making mental mistakes when we can least afford them (i.e. jumping offsides, Reed stepping out of bounds for no reason). We are young, and unless we get Brantley back and beat UGA and get some help, there’s probably not much left for this year. But the good news is, our young guys are getting experience. We’ll only lose a couple guys on defense. We lose some skill players – Rainey, Demps, Brantley, Thompson – but we’ll have 4 of our linemen back and some help coming in. We need some big physical WRs that can block and go up and fight for a ball instead of getting manhandled like DT did.

by Andrew Nordine on Oct 17, 2011 12:15 AM EDT reply actions

The WR’s do a pretty decent job of blocking. Especially on runs to the outside. They did a much better job the first four games of the year though, so yeah, it does need to be improved upon.
