John Brantley working to return from injury: Imagine Brantley living in the weight room, because I really can't. (Lyle Fitzsimmons, RapidReports/CBS Sports)
Receivers looking for consistency: I would suggest that they have been consistent non-factors, so there's that. (Rachel George, Swamp Things/Orlando Sentinel)
Soccer wins in overtime: Dramatic 2-1 wins over 4-11 teams are great omens, I'm sure. (GatorZone)
Cody Larson's improvement: The way Billy Donovan's talking, he might be the next Dan Werner! (Scott Carter, Carter's Corner/GatorZone)

I hope to god
That Brantley is back next week we need him more than anything. Also on an off topic note the espn 150 list was just updated and the gators have 4 commits that’s pretty goodfor a first year coaching staff and all of them are positions where we desperately need help. Bad news? FSU has 9 and Bama also has 9. Best we can hope for are some decommits and recruiting violations.

Don’t worry about the numbers just yet. We’ll be fine. Just get the players for our system and we’ll be fine.

Let Will convert Florida into Bama 2.0
He has more upside than Saban and … he’s at Florida. He can set us up for a very very long chain of success if he gets players who fit and will work hard in the system. Not so much the most hyped high schoolers
Remember hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Will wants the guys who hve talent and the hard work ethic and desire to be great, that’s why his staff is filled with NFL preparation coaches. He’s saying hey, if you got the real desire, and I’m only looking for guys with real desire, to be some the best to ever play football, then you should have the desire to come here to become the best. Not just because we are the best school in so many regards, but because your desire compels you.
I’ll take guys who will work hard over the hyped guys who wimp out all day every day.

I can’t picture him in the weight room either. Also, like gatorempire above, I really, really hope he is back for UGA, which is where we all put it before anything (recovery time) was announced.

"Thunder" Cody Larson
Just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
Also, I know people loved to hate on Werner, but I was always a Dan Fan.

I’ve never hated him. I just never liked him all that much.
Listen to them, the children of the night. What sweet music they make.

not me
I couldn’t stand the guy. Not as a person – I’m sure he’s a great guy, but as a basketball player for the Gators. Uggh. He was terrible. I blame Coach Donovan more though – Werner couldn’t help that he sucked, but Donovan didn’t have to keep playing him!
he had a motor

I must be the only one...
who doesn’t think the WRs have been terrible. it’s not exactly like they’ve had a ton of chances. Yes, Deonte has dropped a ball or two. At this point, if that surprises you, you are simple. For the most part the WRs have been pretty good. Look no further than the first half against Bama for the only time this year, that they’ve had the ball thrown to them consistently, and they performed pretty well (I know 3 dropped). I just think they’ve suffered from Brantley/Weis throwing almost exclusively to the RBs in the first few games, and then true freshman coming in for the lat 2 1/2 games.

Agreed.
When the ball has come our receivers way they’ve made the plays that they’ve been able to make. As for the drops, it happens even Larry Fitzgerald drops a pass or two.

I agree, too. As me and Flagators said before the season started, we expected Debose and Hammond to do great things this year. When given the chance, they have been stellar. Thompson has been pretty good considering how he usually is. He has caught balls that not even the most reliable receiver probably would have caught. Everyone else has been a complete non factor. What the hell happened to Reed and Hines? It’s pathetic when thru 7 games our top “receiver” is our “running back” and he averages under 40 yards per game receiving and is yet to break 300 yards total. You know your Passing offense suck when you take that into consideration, and add in the fact that noone on your team is probably going to break 500 yards for the season. Ouchie.
Coach Muschamp: Laying the Boom down on your a.....
If no one on the team has 500 or more receiving yards, then I’ll consider this year 100x worse than last year.
Deonte Thompson had 570 yards receiving last year. I was kind of mad that that was our high last year. This year, as you pointed out, is looking even worse.
I wouldn’t have guessed that in a million years.

It just depends how you look at it. I don’t think (as Gators1 said) that having Rainey at the top is a good thing. Also like he said, the two of us had a discussion and we thought that Hammond and Debose would be in for a breakout year. Well, Debose has done things, but Hammond has been alright. Like Gators1 said, when give the chances.
For some reason, we continue to see Reed out on deep routes instead of Debose, Hammond and Thompson. Why? I have no idea. I know that Dunbar has been hurt, but judging from his breakout spring, this isn’t what we had in mind.

That is the most discouraging thing. Why would we have our slowest guy who was a QB last year if that says anything going on our deep routes? That makes zero sense to me, because if the ball is overthrown or underthrown he isn’t going to be able to make the adjustments quick enough to catch that ball. Had the overthrown ball to Reed been to say Debose or even Hammond, hell even Deonte, then the outcome could have been much different. Wouldn’t it make much more sense to use Reed like he should be used? Short passes off play action to him in the middle of the field? Then send Debose for the deep balls? I don’t get the logic here. You would think you would trust and have confidence in a guy with 3 Super bowl rings, but holy shit Weis needs to wake the F up.
Coach Muschamp: Laying the Boom down on your a.....
Speaking of Reed made me think when he gave up on that one deep ball. That still has me pissed off.
Coach Muschamp: Laying the Boom down on your a.....
You and I both. I put that interception entirely on him.
