SEC goes to 9 conference games for 2012
USC — along with all other SEC schools — will play nine conference football games each year due to Missouri joining the Southeastern Conference, President Harris Pastides said Sunday.

SEC goes to 9-game league schedule. Makes BCS contention - i.e. going unbeaten - that much more difficult
@DanWetzel Dan Wetzel
Big 12 powers is big winner on this, much easier path to unbeaten than SEC w 9 league game grind and SEC title game
@DanWetzel Dan Wetzel
Example: For Florida to go unbeaten must win 10 SEC games and Florida State (7 of those could be off campus)
Please be kind and use good grammar.

Welp looks like the USC president might not know what he is talking about
@SECPRGuy Charles Bloom
#SEC will continue to play eight conference games in football. There has been no discussions on nine game schedule.

yes
this is what I saw the most of.It may be difficult to fit a 9 game conference schedule into 2012 because a lot of schools already have contracted agreements to play 4 other schools.

I want 9 conference games.
8 games with 14 teams means it takes 12 years to cycle through the rotating West opponents. That’s absolutely ridiculous.
9 games gives the same proportions we have now.
It won’t be that much more difficult. Mizzou is on the schedule no matter what (and it’s not like Florida should be scared of them anyway), and A&M is joining the rotating teams. With the same regular teams and proportions, nothing would change. We’d just add Mizzou to the schedule, probably before UT.
Oh, come on. Don't leave your uncle T-bag hangin'.
The problem is that they need to eliminate crossover rivals
and keep it at 8 with 2 rotating games with the SECW
Bama can’t get everything it wants.

We would be losing a gimme home game win
for Mizzou.
SO exchange Furman for Mizzou. That is a much tougher schedule. We might not make a bowl this year if we had it.
It would guarantee 7 more losses for SEC teams.

The cross-division rival is untouchable.
No way you piss off AU/UGA/UT/Bama and get something to pass.
Mizzou is better than one of the cupcakes, but I’d rather have a slightly more difficult schedule than not play Bama or AU or A&M for 12 friggin years.
Oh, come on. Don't leave your uncle T-bag hangin'.
It would be 6 years
unless they do a home and home, then it would be 12. but personally I’d rather not play Bama, at least not until we are good again, and they drop off our schedule next year anyways. So here’s to 2012.

Technically not true
8 games with 14 teams means it takes 12 years to cycle through the rotating West opponents.
You can do it in 6, if the scheduling office handles it correctly (Switch teams every year, but home one year, away the next). Makes scheduling way more complicated, but fixes the speed of rotating through opponents.

I hope it's not true
