Chomping At Bits: John Brantley To Go Undrafted?
Chomping At Bits runs twice daily during the week and once daily on weekends, and comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.
John Brantley might not get drafted: Well, that's according to ESPN's Todd McShay. I can't really disagree with him either. Also, the Gators have had a player go in the 1st round every year since 2006. Yeah, that's probably not going to continue. Can I blame Janoris Jenkins for that? (Jason Lieser, The Palm Beach Post)
SEC Storied: "The Play That Changed College Football" Yes, it is indeed about the SEC Championship Game and the two teams that played in the first one. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)
2011 SEC Championship Game: Speaking of the SEC Championship Game, Roy Kramer is getting some love in this article. Yes, he not only thought of the SEC Championship Game, but also the BCS. (Jon Solomon, The Birmingham News)
Parsons is ready: Chandler Parsons is ready for the start of the NBA season. I for one, we'll just continue to root for the Celtics and whoever is playing the Heat. (Swamp Things, Orlando Sentinel)
Gators ready for Syracuse: What with the sex scandal that is going on up there and everything. (Jason Lieser, The Palm Beach Post)

I'm surprised that anyone is even considering Brantley's draft stock

Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see it myself. Though as QB of a major program, he’ll be mentioned. But yeah, undrafted is where I see him as well.
FSU back-2-back state champs!! 52-14
Biggest bust for UF ever?
Wasn’t he talked up to be the third coming or something as a legacy recruit?

Please NOTE: Maybe not through his own fault, but bust none-the-less?

He was a legacy recruit, but I don’t think he was the biggest bust ever.

As far as QB's go, who was more boomed with less bang?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
I think Xavier Lee was ours, hands down.

I have no idea dude
It was hard enough to follow him while he was on the team.

According to Wikipedia
He is now a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Locomotives.
Baltimore Ravens signed him as a TE in 2008 and cut him a month later.

That's just crazy talk
EJ hasn’t met expectations yet, but he is far from a bust.

As far as QB’s for us, yeah, probably. Either Brantley or Brock Berlin. But Grossman beat out Berlin, so yeah.

Grossman always seemed like a good kid to me.
Brock Berlin seemed like an ego-maniac without the skills to back it up.
Heard some stories about John Brantley that didn’t exactly make me a fan, regardless of the fact he was a dirty lizard to begin with.

I would have to go with Bobby Sabelhaus
He was an enormous recruit for Spurrier and never played a down. Here’s a local story about him
He is Brantley mutiplied by 10 because he had real mental issues other than just confidence related issues.
Still a Gator, even if we're FSU's bitches.
I had forgotten all about him.
In 2002, Sabelhaus seemed to imply to the New Yorker that Steve Spurrier was to blame for his failures:
> Sabelhaus: "Everything I did was wrong. I was used to coaches yelling at me, but they would also sometimes pat you on the back. Not Spurrier. Even when I threw a touchdown pass in practice once, he said to me, ‘Are you just stupid or is it a lack of talent?’ I hadn’t run the play the exact way he wanted me to.
Haha. It’s like something out of Varsity Blues.

Well, Cam was equally hyped and only committed a crime and left the school
then he went and won a Heisman and national championship with a rival school. Brantley wasn’t that bad.

LMAO
Tim Brando: Let's head to Gainesville with Coach Will Muschamp who's live on the scene with an exclusive. Coach Boom?
Boom: Gator Watch. The mood is tense; I have been on some serious, serious reports but nothing quite like this. I uh... Whiz... Weis is inside right now. I tried to set up an offense with him, but they said you can't do that he's a live walrus, he will literally rip your face off.
[to the walrus]
Coach Boom: Hey, you're making me look stupid. Get out here, Walrus Weis!
Tim Brando: Great story. Compelling, and rich.
Before the FSU game,
I thought that if he played great against FSU and in the bowl game, he’d have an OK shot at going either late or picked up as an unsigned free agent. Now?
lolNo.
Wait.
The most injury prone and one of the worst QBs in the SEC doesn’t get drafted in the first round? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

He’ll be in the cfl with Leak by the end of the year. Probly still as a back up. Which is really sayin something.

CFL?!?
I’ll have you know that Chris Leak is currently a member of the Arena Bowl Champion Jacksonville Sharks. That’s right folks, Leak is the best clipboard holder in the entire AFL! (He was the backup QB to Aaron Garcia, perhaps the best Mexican American (according to Wiki) QB ever. Garcia is at least the best 41 year old AFL QB ever!
Garcia changed teams, but Leak is still not the projected starter, as he is apparently going to backup Omar Jacobs, who ironically was an Urban Meyer recruit at Bowling Green.
Yikes.
Still a Gator, even if we're FSU's bitches.
Leak's problem is tiny hands
and he’s short. If you put him in Brantley’s body, he’s probably an NFL backup.

Leak was never Garcia's back up
He was signed after the season and Garcia had retired to coach.
He is in competition for the starting gig for the upcoming Sharks season

That article
Calls Syracuse our toughest opponent this season. Seriously?! We already played Ohio State and still play Kentucky. I’m already saying it….this is the year UK goes to the NC game.
MATT freakin ELAM!

I disagree
I think the wheels will come off in the tournament like it does every year. Youth with skills is still youth when it comes down to crunch time. Callapari shows that every year.

I feel ya. I just think this year is different. The team is insanely talented (not that that has ever really been an issue) and still have Miller, Jones, and Vargas as “leaders”.
MATT freakin ELAM!
I’m still not too worried about it haha if young can stop Sullinger he can stop anybody.

They are definitely up there, plus beating them in the carrier dome is really difficult.
But yes I agree that Ohio St and Kentucky are better teams

I could've gone to the game
Syracuse is only about an hour away but I got a fucking speeding ticket in SC on my way down to the football game so that kinda thwarted my plans. They always gotta pick on the Yankee down south don’t they.

Yes, and we kind of like that. No offense to you personally, but just in general … yes.

The 1992 documentary was quite good.
Before my time, but it was interesting. Thank heavens the CG isn’t still at Legion Field, eh?
Oh, come on. Don't leave your uncle T-bag hangin'.
I saw the first half last night
It was excellent. It’s still kind of painful watching Matthews on camera though. It amazes me that he is a radio guy because he was such a quiet and shy dude in school. He was dating a cheerleader who was in the sorority I worked at (later married her) and he sometimes ate dinner at the house on guest night. I’m not sure I ever heard the guy say 3 words.
Still a Gator, even if we're FSU's bitches.
FlaGators
On a scale of 1-10, how pumped are you about being alleviated of your fully paid debt tomorrow? LOL.
Bet you can’t wait to get your avatar and siggy back.
Kudos to you man. It’s impressive to see folks stick by their bets.
