Does Anyone Else Feel We Are Headed For An Epitome of "Meh"?

Everyone at Alligator Army knows I'm a Will Muschamp fan and in no way am I suggesting he get fired. With the departure of Charlie Weis, sane Gators should be worried. Was this just a mistake by Muschamp hiring Weis or were there more errors that occurred that will affect us down the road?

Do we really want to hire Brian White as our Offensive Coordinator?

Star-divide

I would love to have the Gators hire Mark Whipple (Former Miami Hurricane Offensive Coordinator) but that just does not seem like it's in the cards.

The SEC East is getting more an more "meh". Florida State is doing great in recruiting and we aren't doing bad either. We need a good Strength and Conditioning coach to replace Mickey Marriotti. We need a strong candidate for an OC.

Will the Muschamp stare prevail?

Gator fans, what say you? Are we headed in the right direction or are we headed to utter destruction in which there is no way we can return?

I hope the future is bright y'all.

Please be kind and use good grammar.

UF has picked a good time to struggle. When FSU hit it’s lowest point, the Gators were winning a couple of national championships. At least right now, while UF is down, FSU has yet to make it back to a BCS bowl and Miami is handling NCAA violations. Not to mention, the SEC East hasn’t been any better than the ACC divisions the last 2 seasons. I think the fact that UF plays in the state of Florida + Miami facing more problems than UF + a weaker SEC East = UF getting back to winning quicker.

Good points

The SEC East has been pretty bad for awhile now, UF was their only bright spot. Now its up for grabs but nobody wants it.

It goes in cycles. In the 90’s it was us and UT. In the early 00’s it was us, UT and UGA … now it is UGA and Carolina.

UGA and SCarolina

Are not even close to the level UF and UT were at in the 90’s and 00’s. I know what you mean about the cycles, but the SEC east does not have one dominant team right now. Its pretty sad.

I know we lost both games

but we were on par with UGA and USC this year.

No one can watch those games and tell me they are on a different level then us right now

I agree

Contrary to what Muschamp says, close does count for something. Not much but it is a good indicator when judging two teams, most of the time.

I'd love to hear Muschamp's answer to the inevitable question if he hires White.

“Coach, you said you’d go out and get the best OC in America. Do you believe Brian White is the best OC in America?”

Oh, come on. Don't leave your uncle T-bag hangin'.

Every coach says that in every situation. Coach speak. It’s a very safe bet to say that 98.5% of it is BS … every time.

Nole fans would love for UF to hire Whipple

Gator fans would be tired and upset within a season or two. His offense is essentially nothing but verticals and crossing routes and he square pegged a round hole with Jaccory Harris so its not likely he wouldn’t continue that at his next stop.

I would take Whipple

He would put points up.

He put up 10 more points then Addazio did

at his own home stadium. You want addazio back?

by fsugrizz on Dec 28, 2011 11:28 AM EST up reply actions

The talent Addazio had in 2009 blows Miami's out of the water

Whipple had over 425 yds of offense in 2010. Addazio had 275 vs FSU.

Whipple wouldn’t be my ideal candidate. I don’t even think he is in the running. But if he was the hire I would like it.

38 in '09, 17 in 2010.

Our defense in ‘09 was a joke, I mean complete joke. I was at the ’09 FSU/UM game. It was as if our DBs had never seen a play action pass. I still have nightmares about Corey Mangum getting beat like a drum. Whipple’s offense couldn’t do sheeite in 2010 vs. FSU. Just sayin’.

by CurtOFD78 on Jan 10, 2012 10:32 PM EST up reply actions

He put up most of those in 2009

38 to be exact…and thats when FSU’s defense was ranked oh….worse then 100. Last year he put up 17. Its no real surprise that in year two of Whipple he put up 4 points per game less with better talent.

FSU’s defense in 2009 gave up 30 points per game and he put up 38.
FSU’s defense in 2010 gave up 19.6 and he put up 17

Thats rather average and he wasn’t playing against real defenses such as say… LSU or Bama. All I’m saying is that with the money UF can afford to drop on a coach, to me I feel like you’d be setting some low standards with Whipple.

by fsugrizz on Dec 28, 2011 11:26 AM EST up reply actions

I don't really want him

but crossing routes are all that Leach runs… I’d say his offense was alright

by Pecan on Dec 28, 2011 11:28 AM EST up reply actions

Leach's playbook

Is more short passing where as Whipple wants to chuck it deep.

by fsugrizz on Dec 28, 2011 11:29 AM EST reply actions

reply fail

sorry. And really good luck with the hire I want both teams to be firing well and want no part of a depressing game like the last one we played.

by fsugrizz on Dec 28, 2011 11:30 AM EST up reply actions

If Harris was worth a shit

It may have worked. Miami did have deep threat receivers.

That being said, I like the short game to open the deep, not vise versa like Whipple’s philosophy…

by Pecan on Dec 28, 2011 11:31 AM EST up reply actions

LOL

He was worth garbage when we had Korey Mangum patrolling the secondary… But I get the point

by fsugrizz on Dec 28, 2011 11:38 AM EST up reply actions

Patrolling isn't the word I'd use

maybe strolling? I’d like to see him still on the field for y’all probably as much as you would like to Terry Bowden hired as our OC…

by Pecan on Dec 28, 2011 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

Naa...

but Give me some Moses Jenkins. Terry might know what he is doing… Jeff? Different story. Good Luck and have a happy new year.

I think you guys will been fine

once Coach Muschamp get the players needed to run his offense. You’re Defense has been steady and looked pretty good against ohio state. You guys will be back in the race for top spot in the East in no time. Coaching changes aren’t always easy. For those of you worried about it, Urban will be retired, then unretired and then retired again in no time at ohio state.
