Top ranked gymnastics team falls (twice on the beam) in Fayetteville, and other sports news

The #1 ranked gymnastics team ruined what would have been a perfect day for the Gators by losing at Arkansas 196.70-196.10. The meet was tied after three events heading into the final rotation, but the Gators' top 2 gymnasts both fell on the beam forcing the Gators to use one of the low scores toward their event score. It was the first fall by either gymnast in their collegiate careers.

The Lady Gators hoops squad upset Vandy 74-69 for their first win against Vandy in eight tries and their first in Nashville since 2004.

The #4 softball team continued to roll by taking a pair of games on Friday in their Palm Springs, California tournament - including a 4-1 win against #2 UCLA. With #1 UGA suffering their first defeat of the season, could the Gators be headed to a #1 ranking?? Thursday the Gators took another pair of wins by beating #11 Texas (an extra inning 6-5 thriller) and IU (a 7-0 beatdown). Tournament action continues today with the 13-0 Gators facing Utah.

The #1 ranked baseball team continued to roll as well, having taken the first 2 games of a 3 game series with Boston College. The Gators current sit at a perfect 6-0. The series concludes Sunday with the final game stating at 1pm.

The Lacrosse team next plays today at home against Lehigh. The Gators have won three straight after losing their season opener in heartbreaking fashion against #2 UNC in overtime.

The Gators track and field teams are both cometing this weekend in Fayetteville at the SEC indoor championships. The Lady Gators Fidela James took first place in the initial event of the competition (weight throw), while on the mens side, Gray Horn leads the pentathlon after the first day of the two day mutisport event.

Mens hoops are in Lexington today to face the Wildcats, and hoping to extend their 6 game winning streak.

Go Gators!!!
