What that boils down to is the Gators are a very young team (in terms of game day experience) but that isn't that bad of a thing. The depth on the defensive line, especially at the tackle position looks dangerously thin, but I'm sure the coaching staff has a plan in place to move a player or two over there just in case.
The safety position is also young by Evans and Elam got major playing time last year, so they know what it is all about. Every other position has at worst a decent mix of young and old (except for punter) and this next year, should be very interesting watching these guys develop into the players that we know they can be.
Go Gators!
Please be kind and use good grammar.

I am really happy to see Mack Brown and Josh Shaw were red shirted. They should develop into great players, nice to know last year wasnt wasted away.
I would much rather see Trey Burton at FB, and use him as a decoy at times by letting him go in motion, or fake fb tosses… You know the works.
AND WE ARE LOAAADDDEEDDDDD AT WR AND RB!
Our RB and WR depth chart looks like a All-Star roster.

That’s what I was thinking. There is a heck of a lot of talent at those positions. Very excited to see how things shape up.
Trey Burton at FB would be interesting and would give the offense yet another option, but his move to DB is somewhat interesting.
The Once and Future King
What's up with that?
Is the move to safety permanent?

Ok! people what that means is…I hit the button that says REC underneath this article. Try it out some time. What happens when a few people REC something it stands out for everyone else to read and it also stays on the front page longer.
DO IT!

really going in with only sturgis as a place kicker?
I may be in a rut, but at least I know where I'm going
...to DFA TLR
Well…technically we have other kickers on the roster…
John Crofoot (RS Sophomore)
Zack Brust (RS Sophomore)
Eric Strack (RS Sophomore)
Brad Phillips (Sophomore)
But Sturgis is far and away the main one and the only one expected to get any sort of playing time, barring an injury, so that is why he was the only one listed.

At QB, RB, and WR. Interesting to see how the heck we use all of them. Please, for the love of god, can we see more of Debose and Hammond at WR and a shitton less of Deonte. And I want to see Mack Brown used. Lets not waste away that talent. I am wondering if Blakely will get the RS. It might be for the best. Theres alot of talent, I am not sure how much time he would see the field anyways.

Dont forget we have a new OC...

Don't forget Hunter Joyer
Hunter Joyer is supposed to be a stud. Classic build for a FB.
He's in there
Just listed at RB… and spelled with an “n”. I could see him competing this year for playing time if he’s as good as advertised. This roster looks strong. There are some fairly obvious questions about depth, but man…I mean running DeBose, Hines, Hammond, and some combination of Thompson, Alli, Clark, Dunkley is scary good at WR. Going forward, I look for this team to improve this year. That’s my goal, improve. I look at the offense, and don’t see how it could get worse than last year, and the defense will be strong again, and could even be better with more Powell, Floyd, Easley, and some of the younger guys stepping up. I really like Elam back there in the secondary, and hopefully some of these young LBers can step up…I’m looking at you Dee Finely. Man it’s freakin February, and I’m already ready for football to start. Go Gators.
I have some questions.
How long until Driskel is number two on the chart? Shouldn’t be too long; he’s a talent.
How are Demps goin to be used in a pro style offense? Can he handle the physical toll a pro offense will take on his body?
Rainey is a WR, is he not?
Is Reed at TE full time now?
What is Powell’s true position? He seemed to be a roamer; some downs he would have his hand down, others he took at OLB. Is he staying at DE?
What’s the deal with Floyd and Easley? Last I heard, Easley was not doing so well.
I believe Josh Shaw is a CB, unless he was moved.
Driskel is probably #2 right now, and after spring practices, he should definitely be in that spot.
Yes, Demps can take the physical toll.
No. He is a running back that Meyer moved to RB/WR to increase his time on the field.
Looks that way.
We have no idea. Depends on the defense 3-4/4-3 questions.
They are fine.
Josh Shaw is much like Dee Finley in that the coaches are at this point trying to figure out the best spot for them. They could move around a little bit as the coaches get more familiar with them.
The Once and Future King
I have no idea, I guess well find out in the orange and blue game.
Demps last season proved he is not just a speed back, he can carry the ball between the tackles or on sweeps out side and he can run nice routes. One game last season he had 26 carries. He did get hurt last season, but it was just a foot injury. If it wernt for the foot injury Demps was on pace to be Meyeys first 1,000 yrd future back. I fully expect Demps to earn the starting job.
Its been quoted Reed is pretty much done at QB, but the coaches are very impressed with him and want him on the field some where.
Powell has no true position. Last season he played the Jevon Kearse position, as he would switch between OLB and DE from play to play. Powell is listed as a DE on most recruiting sites but his true positions are DE, OLB, AND TE.
Floyd was great last season, probably better than Powell IMO. I have no idea about Easley…he was just a freshman, so its not alarming we didnt see much of him.
Shaw was CB in high school. But Joe Haden was a QB in high school…So who knows what Shaw will end up at.

Thanks
I read something about Powell making the switch to OLB. It was like midway through the season, and he truly was all over the place. I never saw him at TE though; did he get snaps there?
I saw something where Meyer said that Easley wasn’t doing the right things to get on the field (somewhere along those lines).
If Shaw’s 6’2" is legit, that’s nice size for a corner.
Powell played TE in the Army ALL American game. He caught a TD and ran one back for a TD on defense, he was the MVP of the game. But no, I dont think he played TE last season. But Addazio could barely handle 5-6 plays, so throwing another freak athlete in there to make a mismatch was definitely out of the question.
I was surprised last year that Riggs got to play over Shaw. Shaw has the athletism and size of a NFL type CB, and played CB in high school. Same with Easely but…This might sound crazy but Meyer was big on other little things like hard work, and those type intangibles instead of just raw skill.

FWIW...
The depth at D-line might not be as big of an issue as it seems given Muschamp likes to run a 3-man front most of the time…
You may not like what I have to say...but somebody has to say it...
Pshhh
D Line is the last thing I am worried about.
QB…

I really like the talent that we have at the skill positions. I was just wondering why isn’t that Tevin Westbrook kid listed on here. I know he wasn’t highly recruited but he is a beast and a raw talent. He is listed at 6’5 235, but I had seen that he is actually 6’6 260 already, at de. That is just ridiculous. Also I really like our d-backfield in the future, they are going to be nasty. That Graham Stewart kid is pretty nasty too, if he puts on some weight he could end up being really good, he is a solid tackler and very fast to the ball. He reminds me alot of clay mathews, i know hes not him and might never be, just saying his playing style. Over all I really like our chances next year, hopefully this oc will put the playmakers in the right spots. Go Gators!
Would be easy to forget him ;)
'11: Minimum Goal: 9-3 Regular Season. Given FSU's non-con slate, don't care who the 9 are.
'10: 7th in offense, 41st in defense. Division Champions. 10-4. (6-3)
'09: 8th in offense, 88th in defense. 7-6 (4-4)

THANKS!
I’ve been dying for an updated, complete roster like this, so thanks for the hard work of putting it together! Any chance we could get star ratings on the players from their recruiting days, at least the younger guys we haven’t seen on the field yet? The team looks alright for next season’s transition and much better for the short term future as the youth matures…

i like how its lookin.
I love the move out of the QB spot for jordan reed, b/c IMO he isnt a quarterback. He struggled to throw a simple screen pass in the PSU game. i also like the switch for Trey Burton, a kid with that much talent shouldnt be juggling 5 positions like he was, i think its a waste, better for him to focus everything hes got into one position.
my question is, why didnt we RS Gillislee his freshman year?i dont understand that one.
also is that switch for Chris Rainey a permanant thing or is just where ou put him for his RB/WR position? i kinda liked him better at WR but thats just me.
the depth at the DL positions is slim, but i think the talent we got there definately makes up for the lack of bodies. id rather have a few very talented dudes than a lot of semi talented joes.
The Gillislee issue was I think more about depth than anything. But I can’t remember why exactly.
As for Rainey, a little of both it seems. I think based upon what the coaches are saying is that he will play running back the majority of the time and then be that 4th or 5th wide receiver in certain sets/situations.
The Once and Future King
Exactly
Gillislee had a lot of meaningful playing time. Demps was out a lot, Rainey was suspended, Moody got the Dan Werner disease.
Rainey was actually really good when he came back from his suspension. That little scare might of actually did him some good.

Reed wasn't as bad as Brantley.
But I agree, his arm wasnt any thing to get excited about.
"When you argue correctly, you're never wrong."-Nick Naylor
No it wasn’t. But he fit the profile of a spread quarterback much better than Brantley and that is part of the reason why he preformed much better.
And Brantley still isn’t that good. He might throw the ball great in practice and against the College of Charleston or whatever, but against the big boys all he does is throw 3 yard checkdowns every time. Cheeseburger Charlie better work some serious magic.

Awesome Stuff!
The update with the stars looks great (Rivals?) and I’m already having a great time daydreaming about the bright future ahead of us; go Gators!

i just noticed a couple more things….
is steve christy’s son punting for us now?? i think his names steve used to kick for the Bills..anyway.
and is the move to LB permanent for Dee Finley? i know he was always a saftey/backer hybrid type player but if hes now a backer for life thats a great move by the coaches cuz our linebacking corps. is hurtin badd
Steve Christie yeah. Kicker for the Bills. And I have no idea.
It looks that way. With the switch to a 3-4 base defense, I’m sure there is going to be a few other players moving around to fit in various situations..etc. Should be interesting.
The Once and Future King
Powell would be a great out side backer in the 3-4.
Pretty much what he did last season.
