Gator Weekend Sports Report

While we're waiting for the hoops game against Vandy to start, let's recap what the other Gator teams have accomplished so far this weekend...

The tennis teams got the weekend off to a great start Friday, as both the mens and womens teams were 6-1 winners against Alabama to run their SEC marks to 2-0.

The (finally #1 ranked - at least in one poll) softball team continued their season long slaughter of opponents with a 9-0 win over UConn, followed by a 6-1 victory over Robert Morris in a Friday evening twin bill as part of a Clearwater tournament. The Lady Gators take on Ball State and Nebraksa this evening before finishing off the tourney with USF on Sunday.

The top ranked (for now) baseball team recovered from an embarrassing 7-0 loss at home to Georgia Southern Tuesday by taking the first of a 3 game series Friday night against Rhode Island by an 11-5 score. The Gators face Rhode Island again Saturday afternoon and then conclude the series on Sunday.

The mens golf team is playing in the Bandon Dunes Championship Tournament in Oregon and sat in 2nd place after Friday's round.

The Lacrosse team defeated Georgetown midweek by a 17-10 margin, and then followed that up with a 19-4 decision over Temple Saturday afternoon. Nothing like beating up on the Big East teams during March Madness, right?

Last, but certainly not least, the mens track & field team is trying to defend its national title at the indoor National Indoor Championships.  The Gators are looking for their first national title of the 2010-11 season.

Go Gators!!

Please be kind and use good grammar.
