Talk about dropping the hammer on Rammer Jammer.
Yesterday proved to be a successful one in bat-and-ball matchups with the Crimson Tide.
The Gators softball team provided plenty of pre-Easter excitement in a come-from-behind victory over Alabama, pushing their record to 39-8, 14-7 SEC. Kelsey Bruder clubbed a 3-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 7th to lift the team to a 6-5 win at Pressly Stadium. The win sets up an opportunity for the softball team to take the series in this afternoon's rubber match.
Elsewhere on campus, the fifth-ranked Gators baseball team (per Baseball America's April 18th poll, after defeating the Tide 7-0 at McKethan Stadium on Friday night, ensured a series victory with a 9-2 win yesterday. The win featured a 2-for-4, 4 RBI day for catcher Mike Zunino and giving Brian Johnson his sixth win of the season. Today's game will see the Gators going for the series sweep, as well as their 31st victory on the season. In just over a month tournament time begins for college baseball, so here's to hoping the Gators make a return to Omaha and improve on last year's two-and-out exit.
