Now that we've got Mike Pouncey out of the way (15th overall to the Miami Dolphins), there are still plenty of former Florida Gators (thirteen players to be exact) who hope to be drafted. Which have the best chance to be drafted on day two of the NFL Draft?
Well, to "steal" a line somewhat from the movie Major League - "Who exactly are these guys?"
Well, according to GatorZone.com the remaining Florida Gators who are draft eligible are as follows: (Player rankings from nfldraftscout.com)
DT Brandon Antwine - 62 out of 151 DT's. Undrafted.
S Ahmad Black - 4 out of 144 SS's. Round 4 projection.
OT Marcus Gilbert - 9 out of 87 OT's. Round 3 projection.
P Chas Henry - 1 out of 44 P's. Round 6-7 projection.
LB Brandon Hicks - 48 out of 129 LB's. Undrafted.
S Will Hill - 14 out of 83 FS's. Round 7 projection.
OL Maurice Hurt - 12 out of 158 OG's. Round 6-7 projection.
OG Carl Johnson - 15 out of 158 OG's. Round 7 projection.
LB A.J. Jones - 42 out of 169 OLB's. Undrafted.
DE Duke Lemmens - 48 out of 124 DE's. Undrafted.
DT Lawrence Marsh - 47 out of 151 DT's. Undrafted.
RB Emmanuel Moody - 56 out of 160 RB's. Undrafted.
WR Carl Moore - 81 out of 293 WR's. Undrafted.
DE Justin Trattou - 32 out of 124 DE's. Undrafted.
WR Justin Williams - 224 out of 293 WR's. Undrafted.
So it looks like it is going to be a slow day for the Florida Gators. Marcus Gilbert looks like he is going to be the next Gator player taken in this years draft.
Ahmad Black some feel, will have to wait until Saturday to find out his future. I'm not so sure. There is a chance he could be picked at some point today in round 3. My gut feeling is that both Gilbert and Black get taken today.
Mike Mccall of the Miami Herald has a good write-up on the remaining Gators in the NFL Draft.
SB Nation's Mock Draft has Marcus Gilbert going to Atlanta with the 59th overall pick.
Regardless of what happens today, tomorrow (the final day of the of draft) is going to be very interesting and quite busy for a lot of former Gators.
