I stand by my comment that the bunt was the correct call. I’m still waiting for someone (cough Keith Law cough) to come up with a reason why it was a bad idea.
There is a reason why O’Sullivan is coaching a team in back-to-back CWS’ while Keith Law is spending his time on Twitter.

The reason why O'Sullivan is doing that?
His players are good enough to cover for his managerial errors.

I mainly said it...
because Andy had a problem with it. It’s a tough call. I’m on the fence personally.

What is there to be on the fence about? You are down a run. Runners of first and second no-outs.
It doesn’t matter who in the heck is up at the plate, you ALWAYS advance the runner(s). That was the main goal. That is learned/understood in tee-ball.
It’s simple really.

I think it still depends on the situation
such as, if the guy coming to the plate is a poor bunter, but great hitter…or if the next two batters are 0-17 against the pitcher….or the current batter is 8 for his last 10, etc.
Then maybe you don’t want to bunt there.
That’s why coaches get paid to make those calls instead of just sending a book out there to decide everything.
Am I the only one who thinks they should have just scrapped the CWS this year and awarded the SEC winner the national title? I mean, the only SEC loss in the CWS this season was to a fellow SEC team.

He’s the SEC Player of the Year and he has more home runs then the Texas team as a whole. He also has a batting average in the high .360’s. I know it’s different, but you would never see Albert Pujols lay down a bunt in that situation no matter what.

Doesn’t matter. The bunt was the right call. Every single championship manager makes that bunt call.

That’s what I like about the Gators. They have power, but they can play small ball too. That counts, especially against a Garvin, Gray, Roth, Hultzen, etc.

Exactly. The team can win in a variety of ways, and they aren’t afraid to show it. Now, teams are aware, that Zunino can and will bunt. That changes how a pitcher pitches to him, defensive alignment…etc. It only helps the team overall.

Starting Pitchers:
Panteliodis vs. Sonny Gray. Pants has been big in elimination games.
