Florida Football Recruiting: Adam Lane Becomes Gators' First Class of 2013 Commit
Will Muschamp has secured Florida’s first commitment for the Class of 2013.
Junior running back Adam Lane out of Winter Haven, Fla., made his commitment public earlier today and will be in attendance for the LSU-Florida basketball game. Scout.com broke the story on the commitment.
Although it’s early in the process, Lane said that he is working on being able to enroll early at Florida.
Lane’s physique and style of play is comparable to Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Lane is compact at 5’7", 207 pounds and uses his low center of gravity to get low on defenders and maintain balance.
The addition of Lane, albeit in the 2013 class, has to take some of the sting away from losing Class of 2012 running back Mike Davis, especially if the Gators can add two more backs in 2013.
Florida has its sights set on a number of top-rated ’13 running backs from Sunshine State. Lane mentioned that he is trying to recruit Ryan Green to join him at Florida. Other ball-carriers receiving attention from Florida include Greg Bryant, Kelvin Taylor and Georgia-commit Derrick Henry.

CAN WE GET A BIG-BACK PLEASE!!!
Holy freaking crap. I’m even starting to get frustrated… and that’s rare.

I hear ya but it’s not like this guy is built like Demps or Rainey. He’s strong and actually has pop. The guy is a bull.
If I die, I forgive you, if I recover, we shall see.
I’ll believe it when I see him go through the ’Bama, LSU, FSU and UGA defensive lines.
Do you know how many RB’s we’ve recruited lately (since say, Fason) that we’ve said “He’s a bull.” “He’s amazing.” “He’s got serious speed, talent and ability”
The answer, is all of them.

I understand what you’re saying man. All I’m trying to say is that he’s not exactly like the other small backs we’ve had the past couple of years.
If I die, I forgive you, if I recover, we shall see.
Maybe he’s not the big back you want but at least he’s not 5’ 7 175 like our usual backs. the coaches are gonna need a couple years to start recruiting more pro style big backs, everyone still sees florida as a speed back type of school, at least its a step in the right direction for what we need, now if we get kelvin taylor it will be nice to have some pounder backs in the next few years

That’s fair.
Kelvin Taylor isn’t really a “big” back either. But, he’d be the biggest back we’d have had in a long time.

Wait for Matt Jones to pack on some weight and be 6’2" and 230! Night night, line backers!

I’ve always like how Rivals has compared Matt Jones to Brandon Jacobs in that little picture thing they do.

Yeah the whole comparing thing they do is so stupid, jacobs is 6’ 4 and like 250 I means it’s not that good of a comparison. But I do agree jones is gonna be a stud he’s got the size and speed

Exactly! Yeah, he’s the size that I would really, really like to see in a Gators uniform.

This is a far stretched comparison, admittedly.
But this kid is built like Ray Rice. Tiny in height but just a brickhouse build wise. For a kid his age to be 5’7 and 210 pounds and be as athletic as he is is a very very good sign that we got one of the best guys for our football team. I’m not puttin much on his highlight tapes cuz it seemed to me like the talent he faces isn’t the best gauge to go by. But it’s obvious this kids got something good. Love this pick up. Really want Kelvin Taylor tho

Yeah they are comparing his size to MJD also. What is crazy too is that espn has him at 5’ 7 210 scout has him at 5’ 9 215 or something like that, if he really is 5’ 9 this could turn out to be on the the better backs to come out next year that would give him good height to go along with the bulk I really like this kid and he still has a year to get better and more mature
