Florida lost a few things with their first loss of 2012 to Georgia on Saturday. One of the lesser things among them: Their standing in the college football polls, as Florida drops in the rankings from No. 3 in the USA TODAY coaches poll and AP Poll to No. 8 in both polls for Week 10.

In the USA TODAY poll — one-third of the BCS rankings formula despite coaches probably having their SIDs fill out polls on Sunday morning — Florida falls behind both No. 6 Georgia and No. 7 Florida State; in the AP Poll — which withdrew from the BCS formula years ago, and is comprised of transparent votes from media members who often spend Sunday answering for them on Twitter — Florida stays ahead of No. 9 Florida State. In both polls, Florida is behind LSU, the highest-ranked one-loss team in the country.

Where Florida sits in the polls is largely irrelevant, much like it was last week: If the Gators win out, they'll be in range to be selected for a BCS bowl; if they lose again, they'll likely have to settle for the Capital One Bowl at best. That reflects a lower ceiling from last week, when winning out would have gotten the Gators to the national championship game, and a trip to the SEC Championship Game might have guaranteed a BCS bowl berth.
