Florida vs. Vanderbilt: Gators' injury report is short, Jelani Jenkins probable

Florida heads into its annual matchup with Vanderbilt looking very healthy.

As the Florida Gators head into the meat of their SEC schedule, they do so more or less healthy. The Florida injury report heading into Saturday's road game at Vanderbilt is remarkably short, with only a couple of predicted absences.

Will Muschamp told reporters on Monday at his media availability that there were only three injuries of note:

Jenkins played against LSU, taking the field for the first time since fracturing his thumb in September with a large cast on his arm and hand, but sustained the hamstring injury in Florida's 14-6 win. Florida has survived without him, rotating Mike Taylor and Antonio Morrison onto the field for stretches, and should see little drop-off on defense if Jenkins is unable to go against the Commodores.

Riggs, who broke his foot against Texas A&M, and Patchan, who has struggled with injuries throughout his Florida career, were not expected to play Saturday. Monday morning, however, Riggs tweeted "Love getting great news" — take that for whatever you think it's worth.

The biggest injury news from the weekend for the Gators was likely the revelation that junior Buck player Ronald Powell has had another surgery on his knee after suffering a setback in his recovery from his torn ACL and is back on crutches. Powell, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2010 according to Rivals, tore the ACL in the 2012 Orange and Blue Game, and was reportedly on an accelerated timetable for recovery that would have put him on the field as soon as October.

Instead, it seems all but certain that Powell will redshirt this season and return in 2013 for the Gators.
