Notre Dame's top spot in this week's edition of the BlogPoll should be expected, as should Florida's No. 6 spot. The Gators' big wins help in the computer rankings, but their middling play of late matters a lot more to humans, who have recency biases, than it does to formulas built to exclude them.

More interesting to me? The Gators' significant standard deviation, which suggests that a lot of BlogPoll voters don't know whether to call the Florida team that chugged to 7-0 the real deal or take the last month's Gators as what they are.
