Chomping At Bits: Will Yeguete Could Play For Florida Basketball Vs. Arkansas
Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.
Will Yeguete could play vs. Arkansas: Again, I'm not for Yeguete playing until he's fully healthy, but he's passed a battery of post-concussion tests, which I suppose is a good sign. (Thomas Goldkamp, Gator Country)
Florida down to No. 18 in power rankings: Which means we don't get Luke Winn writing about the Gators this week. Frowny-face smiley. (Luke Winn, SI.com)
Bradley Beal up to No. 4 on NBA Draft board: It's Gottlieb, who is not an NBA analyst, but that's a lofty perch. Patric Young is No. 20, but Gottlieb writes he has "no real skill." (Doug Gottlieb, ESPN Insider ($))
Karsten Whitson's value: What made Whitson pick Florida over an immediate MLB fortune? (Bryan Holt, The Independent Florida Alligator)
Jeremy Lin is not Tim Tebow, Pt. 2: I actually like this argument less than yesterday's, but it's not like Tebow set any NFL records for scoring. (Dave Zirin, The Nation)
Coaches should use Twitter to teach: Dauster articulates many of my thoughts about athletes' use of social media. (Rob Dauster, Ballin' Is A Habit)
As always: Talk about any and all of this and/or anything else you have to say in the comments. Need more Alligator Army in your life? I'm OK with it for things like that Gottlieb link
because Andy’s summary pretty much tells me all I need to know.
Generally speaking, though, if it’s behind a paywall I ain’t reading it.
Yeah, I'm not going to excerpt anything more than a couple bits.
And you’ll notice that even those links are rare.

I link them from time to time when I do the CAB’s, but I try not too. I don’t pay for them either (never have, never will) but that doesn’t mean they’re aren’t ways to read it.

I signed up for ESPN insider years ago because at the time it was the best way for me to get extended Florida coverage and information out here on the west coast, and considering it comes with a subscription to ESPN the Magazine it is relatively inexpensive. It is particularly great for recruiting information, if you like to follow that. Basically I was having withdrawals after graduating and leaving Gainesville where everything is FLorida all the time and coming back to LA where I can only watch 5 Florida basketball games on TV each year.

Yeah, I mean I get why people purchase it. Like those in your situation. But with the way the internet has changed the game (say, print journalism is dead and/or dying), it’s just not needed anymore. Plus you can find all the information somewhere else for free rather than just read the longer version at ESPN.
