Florida Gators Prepare For NCAA Indoor Track And Field National Championships

The Florida Gators track and field team will attempt to defend their back-to-back NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships this weekend in Nampa, Idaho which will be hosted by Boise State. Looks like Boise State finally made the big time.

Anyway, Jeff Demps looks to impress after his disappointing performance at the SEC Championships and is seeded No. 1 in the 60m dash due to his best time of 6.54s. That time by the way, is currently the best in the country. The prelims for the 60m dash is the first event scheduled this weekend, so it is up to Demps to get the Gators off to a good start.

Also in action for the Gators during the Championships are:

Hugh Graham Jr. and Tony McQuay (400m prelims), Sean Obinwa (800m prelims), Eddie Lovett (60m hurdle prelims), Dwight Barbiasz and Frankie Hammond Jr. (high jump), Marquis Dendy (long jump), Omar Craddock (triple jump), Kemal Mesic (shot put), Jeremy Postin (weight throw) and Gray Horn (heptathlon).

The Gators failed to qualify for a few of the events that they usually participate in, which is why that list appears to be a little small. As a result, I have my doubts as to whether or not the Gators can win the NCAA Championship, but I do think they'll be in contention for a top 3 overall finish at the conclusion of the festivities.

There are plenty of ways to watch the action:

Broncosports.com and NCAA.com will stream the events on Friday (noon until 7:30 p.m. ET) and on Saturday (12:30 p.m. ET until 8:30 p.m. ET). Also, ESPN3 will continue streaming the events on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET until 11:15 p.m. ET) and on Saturday (8:00 p.m. ET until 11:15 p.m. ET). If live video streaming isn't your thing, FlashResults.com will have up to the second results posted online for those interested.

ESPNU will also air a tape-delay broadcast of the Championships on Sunday, March 18th at 7:30 p.m. ET.
