North Florida Ospreys Stun the #2 Ranked Gators

6

After a tough weekend series with Ole Miss where the gators lost 2 of 3, the gators took the field in a "in-between" game with the University of North Florida Ospreys in Jacksonville. I am sure this was suppose to be a game where they can rest their rotation and get some bench players into the game, but after a 4 run second inning by the ospreys, webster's dictionary changed its definition to the word "stunned" to "see UF against UNF in baseball." As I was watching, i figured UF would comeback, but inning after inning, UNF would keep putting runs on the board and UF kept leaving base runners stranded. Poor defense, combined with poor pitching and sub par offense, the gators (who had a decent crowd at the game) had nothing left to respond. I could definitely see fatigue as a factor or it could possibly be that they just didn't have the motivation against an Atlantic Sun team. Either way, the UNF Ospreys dominated from the 2nd inning on. UF is currently in the middle of a big slump and having a serious gut check at the moment.... One that could help them mentally come post season play, or one that could keep spiraling and question their confidence. This next series against LSU will be a huge deciding factor that could instantly revamp their confidence or continue to beat them while their down. Also, UNF continues their home winning streak against UF to 3-0 and ties the all-time series at 5-5. Go Ospreys :)
