Cornerback Tre Bell (Jersey City, N.J.) committed to Florida on his visit for the Orange and Blue Debut, according to ESPN's Derek Tyson, becoming the Gators' third verbal of the day and the 14th in the 2013 class.
The 5'11", 175-pounder joins Keanu Neal and Nick Washington as defensive backs in Florida's 2013 class. And while Bell isn't as highly rated as some other cornerback prospects Florida is after -- Vernon Hargreaves III and MacKensie Alexander, for example -- this is probably a move of getting one on board early, as opposed to waiting till National Signing Day and getting burned.
Florida will likely try add one or two more prospects in the secondary, and are now afforded the luxury of choosing who to take. The Gators are squarely in the mix for a number of top defensive backs, including Hargreaves, Alexander, Marcell Harris and Leon McQuay III.
Bell also has offers from the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina and West Virginia.
