Want To See Florida Beat Georgetown On A Boat? It'll Cost You $1,000

Christopher Hanewinckel-US PRESSWIRE

Florida's season opening hoops clash with Georgetown in the Navy/Marine Corps Classic is an expensive ticket. Wanna see the Gators play that game in person? You'll be out $1,000. At least.

We already knew that tickets would be available to the general public for November's season-opening game between Florida and Georgetown in the Navy/Marine Corps Classic, and we were pretty sure that those tickets would cost a pretty penny — and come bundled with Jaguars tickets. We didn't know the price back then, though, and now we probably do.

It looks like you'll be ponying up a cool $1,000 to see the Gators #BeatGeorgetownOnABoat. At least.

Only Gators' Adam Silverstein has a lot of the details that City of Jacksonville Executive Director for Sports and Entertainment Alan Verlander shared on 1010XL-AM's Frank Frangie Show on Tuesday — which Jason Queener, hero, listened to so we didn't have to — and puts the get-in price for the Navy/Marine Corps Classic at $1,000, which gets two tickets to that game and two to the Thursday night clash between the Jaguars and Colts the night before.

But that's just the bottom-dollar package: There will be packages available up to $50,000 for the well-heeled fans who want to be as close as possible to the action and see the Gators in a setting that might be a once-in-a-lifetime happenstance.

There are probably some other benefits to these tickets (there's going to be some concert before the basketball game, apparently), and they're obviously valuable in part because of their scarcity, but $1,000 for the cheapest tickets is definitely going to induce some sticker shock, and I can't imagine too many UF students looking to pony up that amount of dough to see the team play.
