This is a big year for the Gators as Will Muschamp looks to build a rock-solid foundation for his talented defense and pro-style offense. I expect Muschamp and the Gators to take between 23-25 players in this class, many of which will be skill players on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, as Muschamp emphasized both lines of scrimmage in the 2012 class. Lets first examine the commits:
Vernon Hargreaves III CB 5 stars
Kelvin Taylor RB 4 stars
Caleb Brantley DT 4 stars
Daniel McMillan OLB 4 stars
Ahmad Fulwood WR 4 stars
Keanu Neal S 4 stars
Quinton Powell OLB 4 stars
Nick Washington S 4 stars
Adam Lane RB 4 stars
Marqui Hawkins WR 4 stars
Max Staver QB 4 stars
James Hearns ILB 4 stars
Roderick Johnson OT 4 stars
Tre' Bell CB 4 stars
Rodney Adams WR 4 stars
Cameron Dillard OG 4 stars
Josh Outlaw OG 4 stars
Antonio Riles DE 4 stars
Joey Ivie DT 3 stars
Right now Florida has a consensus top 3 class. This class already is loaded and top 10 even if no additional players commit, but that is very unlikely and leads us to the second portion of the article: who I expect to commit to UF between now and National Signing Day. The Gators might take an additional corner, but are pretty much set at DB with the Hargreaves commitment Thursday. Quaterback, runningback and wideout are not an issue, though Florida might take another wideout to load up at skill positions. Expect Florida to pursue defensive lineman, another offensive tackle and possibly a center. Muschamp, being a Saban prodigy knows and understand the importance of a very deep defensive line, something their Tallahassee rivals understand as well. I fully expect Laremy Tunsil to choose Florida over UGA, which will fill the OT need. On the defensive line, look for Ebenezer Ogundeko to choose UF. Ogundeko is a talented, large strong side defensive end from Brooklyn. He is little known due to the fact that he plays northeast ball, against high schools that get little to no attention. Jordan Sherit all but has committed to UF, according to twitterverse, so I expect him to verbally announce soon enough. That is an additional 3 commitments, bringing the total to 22. I expect the next 2-4 to come from skill positions, like wide receiver, corner, safety or ATH. That being said I like the Gator's chances at landing safety Marcell Harris and 4 star ATH Leroy Clark. That puts UF at 24 for the class of 2013 and certainly a consensus top 2 or 3 class. The final class should look a little something like this:
Laremy Tunsil OT 5 stars
Vernon Hargreaves III CB 5 stars
Kelvin Taylor RB 4 stars
Caleb Brantley DT 4 stars
Daniel McMillan OLB 4 stars
Ahmad Fulwood WR 4 stars
Marcell Harris S 4 stars
Keanu Neal S 4 stars
Quinton Powell OLB 4 stars
Nick Washington S 4 stars
Adam Lane RB 4 stars
Jordan Sherit DE 4 stars
Marqui Hawkins WR 4 stars
Max Staver QB 4 stars
James Hearns ILB 4 stars
Leroy Clark ATH 4 stars
Roderick Johnson OT 4 stars
Tre' Bell CB 4 stars
Rodney Adams WR 4 stars
Ebenezer Ogundeko DE 4 stars
Cameron Dillard OG 4 stars
Josh Outlaw OG 4 stars
Antonio Riles DE 4 stars
Joey Ivie DT 3 stars
24 commitments.
Very complete, balanced, talented and skilled class that Gator fans should be proud of.
