There are five days until Florida's September 1 opener with Bowling Green. There are 50 entries left in the 100 For 100 series. So this is halftime. GET IT!?
Florida's band does not enjoy the finest possible reputation for a college marching band. (I've heard the joke in which someone asks what the band is performing by asking "Which song are they ruining today?" more than a few times.) I do respect how hard band members work, and I do appreciate their work at basketball games, but I can't say that everyone falls head over heels for the Gator Band.
No other band in the country has been part of a Jay-Z punchline that I know of, though. And no other college marching band had a summer as cool as The Pride of the Sunshine's, surely: Their visit to London to perform as part of the 2012 Olympics is chronicled in this very cool video from Steve Johnson:
Also, the Gator Band has a website. Visit it!
