It seems that former Gators great Jeff Demps' NFL dream is back on hold again. Or something. In any case, that's the logical conclusion to be drawn from Demps being placed on injured reserve by the Patriots on Friday night as NFL teams cut down to their 53-man rosters.
The Patriots did not release any other notes on why Demps would be placed on IR, but he had a precautionary MRI this week that reportedly came back clean.
Demps had an excellent second game with the Patriots, racking up 114 all-purpose yards on carries, catches, and punt and kick returns in New England's matchup with the Giants this week. But Demps has a checkered injury history, too, with foot problems eating into his 2011 season with the Gators and another injury issue helping knock him out of NCAA track competition in the spring.
The Patriots putting Demps on IR instead of releasing him outright, however, is probably a good thing.
