I am a Penn State fan. As you all know Penn State is part of the Big Ten. I am writing this post to get an idea of how often offensive holding is called in the Southeastern Conference. It is rarely if ever called in the Big Ten and it drives me just plain nuts. Teams like Ohio State and Michigan that have scrambling quarterbacks like Braxton Miller and Devin Gardner have a big advantage over teams like Penn State that play a more tradition drop back passing game with Christian Hackenberg where the ball is released very quickly. Miller and Gardner can run all over the place and get to extend the play because the defense is being held if not out and out tackled by the offensive line. I don't get to watch much SEC football so please forgive me for asking. Has Johnny Manziel had so much success because the Aggies get away with holding? How often is holding called? Do you think it's a problem?
