Tyler Moore injury: Gators' tackle breaks elbow in scooter accident

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Florida loses yet another starting offensive lineman to injury.

Update, 11:21 a.m.: Will Muschamp confirmed on a teleconference that Tyler Moore suffered a compound fracture of his elbow and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

Florida offensive tackle Tyler Moore broke his right arm in a scooter accident on Tuesday night, according to the Tampa Bay Times's John C. Cotey.

Cotey, a preps reporter who isn't really on the Florida beat, was the first to report this news publicly. The Gainesville Sun's Zach Abolverdi is the first Gators beat reporter to acknowledge it, and it appears he's not reporting it.

Update, 11:40 a.m.: The 247Sports Florida message board has what is purportedly an X-ray of Moore's broken elbow, which was posted to Facebook by his girlfriend. Warning: It is gruesome.

Moore has been one of the more fan-loathed players on Florida's offense this year since a season-ending injury to Chaz Green elevated him to a starting role at right tackle in fall camp, and his move to left tackle over the last two weeks to play in the stead of the injured D.J. Humphries was anticipated with the sort of trepidation that is usually found at showings of horror movies.

It was, then, a pleasant surprise that Moore held his own at left tackle, with his only play of note against Georgia coming on a false start. Other than that, he was largely unremarkable — a great sign for an offensive lineman — and part of a line that played quite well against the Dawgs.

With Moore out, Florida is down to just two healthy offensive tackles after having a pool of five at the beginning of fall camp. According to Muschamp, Max Garcia will shift to left tackle and cover for Moore, while Trenton Brown will stay at right tackle, where he performed admirably against Georgia. Kyle Koehne will likely slide into Garcia's customary starting spot at left guard, with Ian Silberman also working at the position.

In any case: Florida's not getting bit by the injury bug this fall — it's being devoured.
