Florida's Poll Position: Gators slip one spot in Week 5 USA TODAY poll, AP Top 25 Poll

Al Messerschmidt

Florida's loss of Jeff Driskel outweighs its win over Tennessee, as the Gators slip in both polls this week.

Despite winning their SEC opener over Tennessee, the Florida Gators slipped one spot in both major college football polls on Sunday, falling from No. 18 to No. 19 in the USA TODAY coaches poll and from No. 19 to No. 20 in the AP Top 25.

Baylor, which has won its first three games by a staggering 209-23 count and ranks first nationally in scoring offense and second in scoring defense, switched places with Florida in both polls, moving from one spot behind the Gators last week to one spot ahead of them this week, and I have no problem whatsoever with the Bears being ranked ahead of the Gators at this point.

The full polls are both below, and demonstrate some of the problem that Tyler Murphy will face while replacing Jeff Driskel: Florida still has four of the nation's top 13 teams in both polls remaining on its schedule, and will play three of the four — LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina — away from home.
