Reviewing early enrollee Drew Sarvary on National Signing Day 2014: Recruitment, highlights, impact

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Florida needed another big body to replace outgoing big body Ian Silberman. So it got Drew Sarvary.

Let's be honest: It's hard to get excited about a junior college offensive lineman like Drew Sarvary. But, if things go right, you won't have to get excited about Sarvary at any point in his Gators career — the best linemen are pretty boring.

Recruitment

Sarvary is the lone junior college prospect in this recruiting class, and comes to Florida from Tyler, Texas, where he attended Tyler Junior College. Sarvary was another depth play for the Will Muschamp staff, and should immediate competition and depth on the struggling offensive line, thanks to his 6'7", 310-pound frame. The former Florida A&M lineman held offers from Texas Tech, South Florida, and Memphis, among others, and committed to Florida in December, then enrolled in January.

Highlights

Note: These are so old, they're actually from 2010, when Sarvary was a junior at Leon High School in Tallahassee. It's safe to assume Sarvary's changed a bit since these days.

Future Impact

Sarvary has the requisite size and experience to be a decent SEC offensive lineman, but fans might not much of him early in his career. If he impresses the coaches in practice, I think Sarvary will get a few snaps a game as a rotational offensive lineman. If Sarvary disappoints, he'll take a year to develop before making an impact, and likely redshirt — he does have three years to play two seasons of football.

Nonetheless, any body is a good body for the Florida offensive line at the moment, with Ian Silberman leaving for Boston College and Jon Halapio and Johnathan Harrison leaving for the NFL.
