2014 NFL Draft: Loucheiz Purifoy, Marcus Roberson among Florida's UDFAs

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Eight Florida Gators will have to catch on in the NFL as undrafted free agents after being passed up in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The 2014 NFL Draft is over, but the NFL Draft process isn't quite over for the hundreds of players who will attempt to catch on as undrafted free agents (UDFAs). Eight Gators will be part of that process, led by Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson.

Purifoy and Roberson became the first Florida early entrants to go undrafted since 2011, when Will Hill left Florida after his junior year and went undrafted.

While Purifoy and Roberson, who each showed up in the first rounds of mock drafts at various points in 2013, are surprising UDFAs, the other six Draft-eligible Gators who were passed up — Trey Burton, Jonotthan Harrison, Damien Jacobs, Darrin Kitchens, Kyle Koehne, and Solomon Patton — were all looked at as unlikely picks, and some of them have been able to hustle and forge relationships with teams that are likely to ink them in the next 48 hours. In particular, Patton has drawn interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Koehne, an Indiana native, could be an interesting fit with the Indianapolis Colts — who ended up with Florida's Xavier Nixon after Nixon originally signed with Washington during the 2013 UDFA frenzy.

In this post, we'll keep you updated on Florida's UDFA signings as they happen to the best of our ability. If you see one we don't have in the body of this post, feel free to leave it in the comments.

Update, 7:26 p.m.: That interest Solo had from the Bucs? Yeah, his signing was reported on Twitter as I was writing this post:

Update, 7:34 p.m.: Trey Burton has signed with the Eagles, according to Comcast Sportsnet's Reuben Frank.

Update, 8:04 p.m.: Damien Jacobs tweets that he's joined the Bills:

Update, 8:35 p.m.: Missed this earlier, but Darrin Kitchens has signed with the Bills, per his agency.

Update, 8:45 p.m.: The Denver Broncos reeled in Loucheiz Purifoy, according to one reporter, who was scooped by another one who was watching Purifoy's Facebook page.

Update, 9:40 p.m.: Hold your horses on Purifoy to the Broncos.

Purifoy's also not among the 15 free agent signings the Broncos announced late Saturday night, so we're back to knowing nothing — besides that you should probably not trust reports on Twitter that cite Facebook too implicitly.

Update, 10:32 p.m.: Jonotthan Harrison is headed to the Colts, his agency tweets. First tweeted by this guy.

Update, 10:55 p.m.: Lineman Kyle Koehne tweets that he's "trying out" with the Atlanta Falcons (first noted by Robbie Andreu):

That's not quite "signed with," but it's something.

Update, 11:46 a.m. Monday: Finally, Marcus Roberson has a home: He'll sign with the St. Louis Rams, per NESN's Doug Kyed. Notable: The Rams already have former Florida star Janoris Jenkins and former Florida State stud Greg Reid at corner.

Update, 12:11 p.m. Monday: And, finally, Loucheiz Purifoy has found a home in Indianapolis. The Colts tried bringing in a Florida special teamer once before in Brandon James, remember.
