As expected, Baton Rouge athlete/wide receiver Derrick Dillon has flipped from Florida to sign with LSU on National Signing Day 2015.
Dillon committed to Florida in May 2014, and his spectacular highlight tape had me comparing him to none other than Gators legend Percy Harvin, despite obvious rawness as a wide receiver.
But landing Dillon was always going to be a difficult ask, and with former Florida tight ends coach Derek Lewis, the point man on Dillon's recruitment, leaving after the firing of Will Muschamp, the Gators just didn't have enough to hold off LSU, which tends to get whatever commits it wants within the borders of the Pelican State. The final blow was Dillon choosing not to make a planned unofficial visit to Gainesville last weekend, which could possibly have allowed Florida's coaches to keep him in the fold.
Dillon's decommitment drops Florida to 15 commits in the 2015 class. On the bright side: No more existing Florida commits are expected to leave the Gators' class on Wednesday.
